Officer Lueckenhoff arrived safely in Minnesota yesterday and finally met up with his team in person. Today they began their Final Leg run, and he had the opportunity to address the crowd at one of their stops. We are so incredibly proud of you, Officer Lueckenhoff!

This past weekend, Mary Wheeler of Wentzville PD, Josh Gasper of Kansas City PD, and Jason Flanery of Webster Groves PD proudly represented Missouri’s Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) in Wichita, Kansas, as part of the 45th Anniversary Celebration of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.

What began 45 years ago with just six runners in Wichita has grown into a worldwide movement that spreads the message of inclusion, hope, and acceptance for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

The West Coast Final Leg Team traveled from Los Angeles, Sacramento, and Seattle to Wichita, with additional stops in Dallas, Atlanta, and Nashville before arriving at the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games in Minnesota on June 20.

Thank you to Mary, Josh, and Jason for serving as outstanding ambassadors for Missouri, the Law Enforcement Torch Run, and Special Olympics Missouri. We are proud of your dedication and grateful for the impact you continue to make in the lives of our athletes!
