Hi everyone! If you're running the Chicago Marathon with Team DetermiNation this year and have family/friends cheering for you, or if you're not running but would like to support, we'd love to invite everyone to cheer at our Official ACS Mile 25 cheer station!!
There will be music, dancing, snacks, and we'll provide cowbells, and cheer signs. Join the party! The cheer station is located at 24th and S. Michigan Ave. and we will be there from 10AM-3PM 🙂

While not required, we ask that any spectators fill out our volunteer registration form for mile 25, especially if they want an ACS t-shirt to represent. If they cannot stay for a full shift time, just choose the shift time closest to the time they believe they will be present. Thank you!!!! Join us (virtually) on Tuesday, June 14 from 6pm-7:30pm CST for a discussion about nutrition and hydration during marathon training! Our knowledgeable and experienced panel will share best practices and will be available to answer YOUR questions during the Q&A. You are welcome to submit your questions below

Our expert panel includes:
· Cynthia Kmak, a USA Track & Field Level 1 Certified Coach and RRCA certified coach who has been a coach with Chicago Endurance Sports since 2014
· Allison Koch, a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and Board-Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics and an RRCA certified coach who helps endurance athletes improve their nutrition to support their workouts and achieve peak performance

Today is the first day of National Volunteer Week and we want to recognize all of our volunteers! We are so lucky to have SO MANY amazing volunteers in numerous roles at all of our events throughout the year! Whether you are handing out waters, supplying aid, driving participants, or cheering everyone on, we are so thankful for everything you do. Without YOU, DetermiNation events would not be the great successes that they are! THANK YOU!

2022 Bank of America Chicago Marathon Teammate, Ryan Garland was featured today on our American Cancer Society DetermiNation Endurance Series national page!

We can't wait to cheer you on in October, Ryan!

It's Friday and we think the best way to kick off the weekend is by sharing the story of one of your DetermiNation teammates!

Team, meet Ryan Garland! Hailing from Ohio, Ryan joined Team DetermiNation to take on the 2022 Bank of America Chicago Marathon in October. When asked why he chose to run with ACS, this is what he had to say:

"I’m very excited to be a part of the ACS Team! A good friend of mine decided to run the Chicago Marathon and got a lottery entry. I told him I’d join him and it was easy for me to choose ACS as the charity I wanted to support. I lost my mother to cancer in 2017, she was only 54. It was the single most difficult period of my life. Many other family members and friends have been affected by this terrible disease, so I am fully committed to helping raise funds for such a great cause and contributing to a cancer-free future! I have no doubt that this mission will provide plenty of personal motivation when training and running the race."

Ryan, we can't thank you enough for sharing your story and making ACS/Team DetermiNation a part of your Chicago Marathon journey. We know race day will be even more meaningful with your mom, friends, and family with you and cheering you on like we will be!

Today, we're thrilled to feature 2022 Bank of America Chicago Marathon teammate, Michelle Samras on why she joined Team DetermiNation to take on the Windy City's 26.2 miles this coming October!

"I am excited to be part of this group and raise money for a good cause. I wanted to raise money for a cancer charity because about 4 weeks before I ran in the 2018 Chicago marathon, I found out my mom had stage 4 colon cancer. I didn't know if I wanted to run the race or stay home to support my mom. I went and ran the 26.2 miles for her knowing she was going to be strong at home while I was in Chicago running the race. Sadly, my moms fight with cancer ended in July 2021. Chicago Marathon will always be memorable since I originally raced it for my mother and would love to do it again and help raise money to help fight cancer for others. Thank you for allowing me be part of your team."
