Many think of yoga, sound bath retreats, massages, and facials when they hear the term "wellness," which has been heavily commercialized. Although we do have space for yoga and oftentimes play therapeutic sounds or mindfulness programs in our clearing space, wellness by definition is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.
Here at the Wellness Center at A Just Harvest, in collaboration with the A Just Harvest Community Kitchen, we strive daily to create a holistic wellness space for our community members of Rogers Park, paying special attention with care to our underserved, displaced, village-seeking community members.
Here at A Just Harvest, we provide holistic wellness through:
Physical - free access to exercise and activity, nutrition & sleep
Emotional—ability to successfully manage life’s pressures and adapt to change and tough circumstances through case management and mental health support and often times a listening and compassionate ear
Social—Family-style community interactions, nature spaces & integral communication development with others
Intellectual - Creative experience-based problem-solving - We come together to serve our brothers and sisters in community, helping to assist in climbing higher in our individual journeys.
Cultural—Welcoming diversity and creating spaces of inclusivity and representation
You can’t find this care and compassion anywhere else. We aren’t just passing out supplemental goods; we strive to ensure that every community member, despite their condition or level of transition, feels cared for by society as we aim to seed recognition of self-value and self-care into every person we interact with.
This is a vital pillar in our community, and we are in need of sponsors, donors, and partners to continue the work we love to do in serving our community.
