Today, we honor Lou Gehrig, the legendary New York Yankees first baseman whose courage in the face of ALS brought national attention to the disease.

After being diagnosed with ALS in 1939, Gehrig's strength, humility, and famous farewell speech inspired generations and helped make ALS more widely recognized. More than 85 years later, his legacy continues to fuel awareness, advocacy, and hope for everyone affected by ALS.

On Lou Gehrig Day, we remember his impact and stand with the ALS community as we continue the fight for better treatments and a cure.

What started as a vision for Camp United became something even more meaningful thanks to every walker, team captain, sponsor, donor, volunteer, family member, and supporter who showed up for Walk ALS Chicago.

From the laughter and hugs to the stories shared and memories made, yesterday was a beautiful reminder that no one walks this journey alone.

Thank you for believing in this community and helping create something truly special. Together, we continue to move forward with hope, resilience, and love.

With all the fun in store for you, we strongly encourage everyone to take a few moments to review the event layout and Walk Day schedule before arriving. Find all the details you need at walkalschicago.org.

Tomorrow is about so much more than a walk. It is about showing individuals and families impacted by ALS that they are surrounded by people willing to keep showing up and fighting alongside them.

Is your team YETI to go for Walk Day? 🏕️ Walk ALS Chicago is almost here, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone to Cantigny Park this Saturday!

⏰ Online registration closes Friday, May 29 at 8:00am. Please encourage any teammates, friends, family members, or coworkers planning to join you at Camp United to register before the deadline at walkalschicago.org.

Miss the deadline? No worries! 😊 Onsite registration will be available Saturday from 8:00am–10:05am at the Registration Tent.

Please note: every person attending Walk ALS Chicago must complete a registration form, including guests and supporters joining your team.

Fundraising will remain open after registration closes, but we will no longer be able to make online team or registration updates after Friday morning.

This May, the ALS community moved with urgency and purpose to unite against ALS. Across the country, members of ALS United raised awareness and critical funds, and pushed for the research and support families need right now.
We’re grateful to every volunteer, advocate, donor, and to those who shared their ALS story to move this mission forward. There are still a few days left in May to make a difference -- don't wait!
