Join us on Thursday, October 30, at 7 pm for a powerful documentary screening, "Gaza: Doctors Under Attack," followed by a discussion with MedGlobal co-founder Dr. John Kahler, who served in Gaza during the Gaza genocide.

The documentary, commissioned by the BBC, portrays the struggle of medics to carry on their work as all 36 of Gaza's hospitals were under fire. These devastating attacks defied the protections promised to healthcare workers under international law. "Gaza: Doctors Under Attack" highlights the stories of individual doctors and their families facing unthinkable conditions.

Urge "YES" Vote on Senate Blocking Weapons to Israel!

This week, Senator Bernie Sanders will force a vote in the Senate on the Joint Resolutions of Disapproval to block a multi-billion weapons package to Israel we recently alerted you about.
This is the time to call your Senators and demand they vote to block this deadly package of new weapons. Just two weeks ago, Israel launched a major new attack against the Palestinians, breaking the hard-won ceasefire and killing hundreds of additional Palestinians.

With a vote happening this week, we need to flood Senators' phone lines to demand they vote to block these weapons to prevent further genocide upon the Palestinian people!

Here's what we need you to do:

1) Call the Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121

2) Ask to be connected to each of your senators' offices (make two calls, one call for each senator.)

3) Once connected, give them this message in as much your own words as possible:

"Hello, my name is _____________, and I am a voting constituent in [Your State]. I am calling to urge the senator to vote Yes on S.J. Res 26 and S.J. Res. 33, Joint Resolutions of Disapproval to block $8.8 billion in new weapons to Israel. Weapons like these have all been used by Israel to commit apparent war crimes against Palestinians in Gaza, where the war has now claimed more than 50,000 Palestinian lives. With Israel having broken the ceasefire on March 17 by unleashing a massive offensive that has killed over 800 Palestinians since then, it's more important than ever to stop the flow of additional weapons to Israel. I appreciate your consideration, and I strongly urge the senator to vote in favor of these JRDs."

This is a critical moment in this war. Israeli PM Netanyahu has stated that Israel has now "resumed combat in full force." Palestinians have already suffered over 500 days of brutal war and genocide, and now face resumed violence once again.

Please call your senators today and demand they act to end the U.S. complicity in the violence and block these dangerous weapons from being used to further perpetuate genocide.

Imagine a society constructed on interdependence rather than geographical borders. Imagine regarding one another as neighbor versus ‘other.’ CAPA invites you to envision a global society with human dignity as its guiding principle. How would this mutually-held value transform our communities, our policies, our choices?

As we approach this critical election and commit to peace at home and abroad, let us consider what we should ask of ourselves as citizens and as neighbors.

Please join our panelists Kina Collins and Father David Kelly along with moderator, Jim Huffman, as we discuss the transformative potential for our collective dignity intrinsically woven into this perspective.

This year CAPA is honoring Lesley Williams with the Robert A Cleland “Pursuit of Peace” Award. Lesley’s steadfast work in our community for justice, equity and peace is worthy of emulation. In an additional meaningful connection, Bob Cleland’s wife, Jean Cleland was the founder of the organization that is now, Open Communities.

We will enjoy a delicious dinner catered by Curt’s Cafe, celebrate the important work of CAPA’s Climate and Foreign Policy Working Groups, and invite attendees to share their passions and insights among fellow peacebuilders. See you there!
