The best way to learn AAC is to use it with others! At PACTT, every staff member is part of supporting students’ AAC proficiency. Staff participate in regular professional development on best practices in AAC, and work hard to model AAC use throughout the day.

October is AAC Awareness Month!

At PACTT school, nearly 80% of students use a high-tech communication device. These devices are a form of AAC: Augmentative and Alternative Communication. AAC devices help students share their thoughts, interact with people around them, learn new vocabulary, and more! AAC is an essential support for many PACTT students’ learning.

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month!

This month, we recognize and celebrate the contributions, skills, and talents of individuals with autism in the workforce, while highlighting the importance of inclusive workplaces where everyone has the opportunity to thrive and be part of their community.

Reading was the focus of this month’s PACTT School Professional Development. Our team explored hands-on, evidence-based strategies to strengthen literacy and foster a love of reading. We look forward to putting these strategies into action to support our students.

Last night, PACTT was honored to receive the Special Kid's Foundation's 100th Anniversary Grant, a $100,000 award! We’re incredibly grateful to have been selected as the sole recipient of this special grant.

These funds will support the renovation and equipment of a therapeutic kitchen in our new school facility, creating a space where individuals can practice daily living skills and build skills for greater independence.

Thank you to the Special Kids Foundation for choosing us for this grant and for all you do to support local organizations like ours.

This week is Direct Support Professionals Recognition Week, and we’re celebrating all the amazing Direct Support Professionals, especially the incredible DSPs at PACTT! Our DSPs are the heart of what we do, supporting people with autism to connect, participate, and be part of their communities every day.
