Over the past several years, ALMA Chicago has grown from a volunteer-led organization into a sustained force for leadership, advocacy, and community within Latinx LGBTQ+ communities.
We have built leadership pipelines.
We have shown up in policy spaces.
We have created opportunities where few existed before.
But growth alone does not guarantee sustainability.
We are now facing a period of uncertainty. Funding landscapes are shifting, resources are tightening, and at the same time, the need for culturally grounded, intersectional advocacy is increasing.
Donate today to the ALMA Legacy Fund to ensure that our work continues! Link in bio.

ALMA Chicago faces a critical moment. As funding declines and community needs grow, we risk scaling back vital work. The ALMA Legacy Fund aims to raise $50K to sustain our mission and 36-year legacy. Give today.

This is the moment that tests whether this work continues.
The Board has launched the ALMA Legacy Fund, a $50,000 campaign to provide immediate, flexible support to sustain our work and protect a 36-year legacy.

This is not about expansion.
This is about continuity.
This is about ensuring that our communities do not lose critical infrastructure at a time when it is most needed.

If you have partnered with us, supported us, or benefited from this work in any way, now is the time to act.

This work has always been community-driven. It will take community to sustain it.

Today, while threats continue to confront our most vulnerable friends and neighbors, we take solace in knowing the road ahead. On this , we are reminded of Dr. King’s enduring message that our struggles are collective; and, so too must be our responses.

We are heartbroken by the passing of Rick Garcia, a visionary civil rights leader, movement builder, and cherished friend of ALMA Chicago. Rick didn’t just fight for LGBTQ+ rights; he changed the legal and political landscape so our communities could live with dignity, safety, and power. His legacy demands more than remembrance; it demands action. We honor Rick by continuing the work: advancing protections, defending hard-won rights, and refusing to be silent as LGBTQ+ people are targeted across this country. May his courage guide us forward. May his work live on through ours.

On World AIDS Day, we honor our community’s resilience by choosing action over silence. HIV remains a pressing reality for our communities, especially Black and Latinx men, and confronting it requires consistent vigilance, access to care, and collective responsibility.
Prioritize your health today: get tested, explore preventative options like PrEP, and connect with local HIV services that can support you or someone you love. Our strength is in knowing our status, protecting one another, and refusing to let stigma stand in the way of life-saving care.

On November 20th, ED Manuel joined civic and LGBTQ+ leaders from across and to mark at Andersonville's famous Rainbow Crosswalk.

So long as threats against our community members continue, will show up, advocate, and defend our collective rights at every turn.
