đź’™ A Rogers Park icon has been immortalized.

The late Sister Jean Dolores Schmidt, Loyola University Chicago’s beloved chaplain and one of the university’s most recognizable figures, has been honored with a new bronze statue on campus.

For generations of students, athletes, alumni and neighbors, Sister Jean represented kindness, connection and an unwavering belief in the people around her. It’s wonderful to see her legacy celebrated right here in Rogers Park.

Members of the Loyola community gathered to unveil a new statue honoring the life and legacy of Sister Jean, who died last year at 106.

đź’› This is what community care looks like.

Smack Dab Chicago recently brought its team and volunteers together for a Day of Service, packing nearly 500 pounds of food for the Rogers Park community. The food included rice, beans, lentils, fresh chicken and vegetables, which were delivered to a nearby Love Fridge for neighbors to take home and turn into meals.

What we especially love about this effort is the thought behind it. Instead of providing just one meal, Smack Dab recognized that giving people ingredients allows them to decide what works best for their own households.

This is just one more example of how Smack Dab continues to show up for Rogers Park, proving that being a neighborhood business can mean so much more than serving great food.

We love having a businesses like Smack Dab in our community. đź’—
