We are nearing the time for our Revolution! program! We hope you're as excited as we are for this incredible program. We have a few special instruments on this program, and we can't wait to introduce them to you!

Sylvia Berry is playing an original John Broadwood & Son square piano built in London in 1795. She writes: “From the 1760s and onward, square pianos were popular across social classes throughout Europe and the British Isles. Over time, these instruments made their way to various colonies. Square pianos are the equivalent of today's upright pianos in that they were a space-saving option, but unlike uprights, their tone is on the diminutive side. After purchasing this piano, instrument restorer Dale Munschy brought it to playing condition without undertaking a major restoration in an effort to preserve and conserve its existing, original action, case and strings.”

We can't wait to hear this instrument in action next week, and we hope you can join us!

We are fast approaching the time for Revolution! We hope you're as excited as we are for this incredible program. We have a few special instruments on this program, and we can't wait to introduce them to you!

Jeffrey Stockham will be playing the keyed bugle. Check out the YouTube video below to hear him discuss and play his historical keyed bugle!

He will also be playing a cornopean from around 1840, the predecessor to our modern-day cornett. Originally known as a cornet à pistons, the cornopean was invented in France by adding the revolutionary piston valve to a post-horn, allowing it to play in all keys. It could often be found in military bands.

We can't wait to hear these instruments in action next week, and we hope you can join us!
