Just ask Jazmine. With the help of her YJC career coach, she mapped out a plan and went after it. Through YJC’s training partner, TTI Medical Training School, she earned her phlebotomy certification and then completed a Clinical Medical Assistant program. Along the way, YJC covered tuition, transportation, and scrubs.

After her clinical placement at PrimeCare Community Health, she was hired on as a Medical Assistant. Today, she continues to grow through YJC’s healthcare mentorship program.

Employer of the Month: The Addled Bunny!

We’re excited to shine a spotlight on The Addled Bunny, a YJC employer partner since April 2026!

Owner Jeremy reached out to YJC because he wanted to hire right here in Evanston, and this summer The Addled Bunny welcomed its very first YJC hire as a dishwasher. 🎉

Kitchen jobs like this are a great first step into the culinary world, and having a welcoming, central neighborhood spot to work makes it even easier for our young people to get started close to home.

Employer of the Month! This month, we're spotlighting Waterway, a YJC employer partner since May 2025. Waterway regularly hires YJC clients as Customer Service Associates, making it a great opportunity for young people looking to land their first or second job. With locations on the north side, Waterway is also a great fit for our Evanston-based young people looking to start their careers close to home.

What makes Waterway stand out as a partner is their consistent engagement, from accepting client referrals to showing up in person at job fairs and hiring events. That hands-on involvement makes a real difference in how quickly our clients can connect with real opportunities.

Just this week, Waterway welcomed their newest YJC hire, Dhrain Mohammed, who started working there with support from his career coach, Maurie.

🎉 It's National Workforce Development Month! Give to our annual appeal today and help shape a young person's future.

Take Andres, who came to Youth Job Center without a clear plan, just like a lot of young people do. Through paid work experience, career coaching, and a whole lot of exploration (a bakery, a pharmacy, before dental care finally clicked), he found his path.

Today, Andres is a dental assistant at Lincoln Smiles Family Dentistry, and he's already coaching toward his next goal.

His story is just the beginning. Over the next several months, we'll be sharing more journeys like his, the setbacks, the growth, and the careers built because supporters like you showed up.

What a day! 💚⛳

Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday for the 2026 Youth Job Center Golf Outing! From our golfers and sponsors to our volunteers, donors, partners, and supporters, you helped make the day one to remember.

We’re incredibly grateful for a community that continues to show up for young people and invest in their paths toward meaningful careers and economic independence.
