"Listening and being present. It sounds simple. For traumatized people, it's a liberating, healing moment when someone truly listens attentively and makes them feel: I believe you. Women and children, in particular, repeatedly experience not being believed or having their experiences dismissed as exaggerated. Listening and believing them are healing measures. They encourage those affected to name and ultimately acknowledge their feelings."

This World Mental Health Day, we are shining a light on the incredible work of Hjördis Lorenz, our lead researcher and technical advisor, who also serves as a psychotherapist with Doctors Without Borders.

Mental health matters. Not just today, but every day.

As we prepare to celebrate World Mental Health Day tomorrow, let’s break the stigma, lead with compassion, and remember that no one should have to navigate their struggles alone.

And because mental health matters worldwide, our CoLaborers Zambia Director, Chipo, represented at the Ministry of Health’s mental health event in Zambia, where she shared information about our drug and alcohol counseling program.

At CoLaborers, we believe everyone deserves access to support, healing, and hope. Together, we can break the stigma and help more people thrive.

This January, children in Costa Rica will have the chance to hike, swim, explore God’s creation, build lasting friendships, and grow in faith at Nature Camp.
