Invasive w**d watch! While you are out noticing any Canada thistle, keep an eye out for mugwort as well. Mugwort can be extremely aggressive and spread quickly. It is deeply lobed, has a characteristic white underside, and is aromatic when crushed. Chemically, it can be treated with the same chemical as Canada thistle. If you opt for a more organic method, digging up by the roots can be effective, especially if it is a small patch. **ds

It's coreopsis season and the Phase 2 meadow at Oxford Conservation Park is in full bloom! Interspersed amongst the coreopsis are lots of foxglove penstemon, black eyed susan, oxeye sunflower, and blue vervain. As this sea of gold fades and the season progresses, plenty of other colors will emerge! Eastern Shore Land Conservancy
