Reading is not guessing. Students learn how to look at words, break them into parts, and use sounds and patterns to read accurately. Without this instruction, unfamiliar words often lead to guessing instead of true reading.
For struggling readers, this takes time. As foundational skills strengthen, students begin to decode and spell more accurately, build fluency, and grow into confident, independent readers.

It’s been a roller coaster of weather the last couple of weeks, but our students are working hard no matter what Mother Nature has in store for the day. The classrooms are full, the lessons are fun, and each week our students get closer to their reading goals. We are ready for spring! ☀️🌷

An extra special thank you goes out to Marzellas, Happy Chicken, Pete and Tracye Landon, Ed and Linda Gent, and Dawn Holmes for volunteering their time, providing supplies, and stepping in wherever needed. We truly could not have done this without you.

We hope everyone enjoys their Aberdeen Rumble on this snowy, cold Sunday. Our hearts are full, and we hope your bellies are full too!
