We are grateful today.

Thank you, Charlotte Business Journal (Charlotte Business Journal) for naming Do Greater | Sparkhouse Charlotte (Do Greater Charlotte and Sparkhouse CLT & Sparkhouse Charlotte) and our Founder & CEO William McNeely a 2026 Power 100: Visionary.

William’s name is on the list. But the vision and implementation belongs to the whole team who show up early and stay late — Kelsey Van D**e, Karina Anderson, Veronica V Bido, Breonna Bowen, Amanda Thomas, Eddie Bibbs, Mason Thomas, Blair Allen, Joshua McNeely, Sheila McNeely — and everyone who’s backed us for almost 10 years, especially through building Sparkhouse Uptown.

Thank you to the funders and partners who bet on us. And to every young person, creative and entrepreneur who walked through the Sparkhouse doors.

Our bold bet: Sparkhouse becomes a new kind of opportunity infrastructure for Charlotte . Not a building. Not a program menu. A connected system where one door leads to skills, relationships, technology, paid work and a real pathway forward.

We’re just getting started. Come join us.

Thank you, Charlotte.

Last week, Sparkhouse hosted a 2-day Designathon where local youth came together to tackle a real issue impacting our city: teen takeovers.

Day 1: Ideate 💡
They connected with one another, shared their concerns, heard directly from city officials and community ambassadors, learned how AI can be used as a tool for problem-solving, and heard from local entrepreneurs about how they’re using AI in their own businesses.

Day 2: Build 🧱
With the entire day to collaborate, create, and develop their ideas, the teams presented their solutions to a panel of judges—and they came up with some seriously impressive ideas.
And who knows… you might just see some of these solutions come to life in the near future. 👀

A huge thank you to every youth participant, mentor, speaker, judge, city partner, and everyone who helped make this experience possible.

Last week, Dennis Reed, Jr. brought together youth leaders, mentors, and community partners to discuss how we can better support Charlotte’s young people in light of the recent teen takeovers.

At Do Greater, we’ve always believed the best way to change outcomes is to create opportunities.

Through technology, creativity, entrepreneurship, and community, Sparkhouse exists to give the next generation a place to learn, connect, and grow.

This conversation is just the beginning. Together, we’re building pathways that empower our youth and strengthen our city. 💛
