Last week, Dennis Reed, Jr. brought together youth leaders, mentors, and community partners to discuss how we can better support Charlotte’s young people in light of the recent teen takeovers.

At Do Greater, we’ve always believed the best way to change outcomes is to create opportunities.

Through technology, creativity, entrepreneurship, and community, Sparkhouse exists to give the next generation a place to learn, connect, and grow.

This conversation is just the beginning. Together, we’re building pathways that empower our youth and strengthen our city. 💛

June was nothing short of incredible. 💛

This month reminded us why we do what we do: creating spaces where entrepreneurs, creatives, and future leaders can connect, grow, and thrive.

we started off with conversations around access to Capital for founders with
From proudly sponsoring and welcoming hundreds of small business owners to build relationships and grow their businesses, to watching our youth absolutely shine as they:
Curating a pop-up shop at Charlotte Black Owned
Interviews on the meaning of community during FOMO Juneteenth, and
Kicking off the Hobbies Fellowship..
Our next generation continues to inspire us every day.

We also celebrated a major milestone with the launch of Sparkhouse Uptown!!!🚀
What started as a vision quickly became a vibrant home for collaboration, innovation, and community. Seeing the transformation come to life in just two weeks after our partner tours was nothing short of amazing.

To close out the month, we celebrated Cohort 12 of our adult entrepreneurship program, announcing our grand prize winner inside our new Uptown space and giving our founders their first look at what this community is building together.

June was filled with big moments, new beginnings, and countless reminders that when people come together with purpose, incredible things happen.

Thank you to every entrepreneur, student, partner, volunteer, mentor, and community member who made this month so special.

Here’s to building what’s next. ✨

Last week, we lost Isaiah Shorter.

He was a student of ours and a member of our community. We got to know Isaiah through our incredible partner, the Exposure Project, another local nonprofit doing amazing work.

Through our programs, Isaiah built his own clothing brand, 2DAYZWRLD. He loved fashion and he loved creating, and he wanted everyone to have access to his designs and good quality shirts.

Generous, creative, driven.
That is who Isaiah was.

If you’re able, please donate to his family’s GoFundMe to help cover funeral costs, link in bio.

Can’t give right now? A share means just as much.
We will continue to remember him and honor his memory.

Thanks Charlotte Business Journal and Symone Graham for sharing the Sparkhouse story.

This is bigger than grants.

It’s about what happens when people believe in an idea before it’s fully built — and see the potential in the young people, entrepreneurs, creatives, and communities it is meant to serve.

Ally Charitable Foundation’s $500,000 investment in our Creative Studio will help young people access tools, technology, mentorship, and real production space to turn ideas into something real.

Novant Health’s $300,000 investment in Sparkhouse Coffee recognizes what we believe deeply: economic opportunity is connected to health. Jobs, income, purpose, confidence, and community all shape how people live and grow.

Do Greater started as a truck - a mobile classroom with iPads, laptops, and a big belief that talent is everywhere, but opportunity is not.

Now we’re preparing to open Sparkhouse Uptown: 20,000 square feet in the heart of Center City designed to help people work, learn, create, connect, and earn.

Grateful for Ally, Novant Health, Wells Fargo, Truist, the City of Charlotte, and every partner helping bring this vision to life.

The real work starts when the doors open.

Sparkhouse Uptown.
