Today is DAF Day In Charlotte. 💙
Quick version, in case DAFs are new-to-you: a donor advised fund is a charitable account. You put money in, you get the tax deduction up front, and then you recommend grants to nonprofits whenever you're ready.
A lot of people have them, but a lot of them are not being used effectively. Which means a lot of generous people are sitting on money they already decided to give away — waiting on one small step.
If that's you, here's what investing your DAF in Freedom Communities does to create opportunities for our neighbors in West Charlotte:
💛 $5,000 — Sponsors a full year for a mom in our Moms Moving Forward program.
🏠 $1,000 — Provides emergency rent support for a family in one of our Affordable Housing Neighborhoods
🎒 $500 — Supports a childcare scholarship at Bright Future, our on-site childcare center, so a parent can work knowing her child is safe and cared for
💼 $250 — Invests in a neighborhood entrepreneur at the Freedom Business Collective who is building something of his own for now and for the future
