Every month, every State Employees' Credit Union member contributes $1 to the SECU Foundation. Over 22 years, those individual dollars have grown into more than $300 million in community impact.

Last week Freedom Communities felt that impact firsthand.

We are deeply honored that the SECU Foundation Foundation chose to invest $350,000 in our capital campaign to expand economic opportunity and community transformation in West Charlotte's Freedom-Wilkinson Corridor.

And they didn't just write a check. Team members from the SECU Foundation and Charlotte-area SECU branches showed up and spent the day in our neighborhood— beautifying our community, engaging in conversation about issues, and deepening the kind of partnership that makes real change possible.
This is what community investment looks like. Thank you, SECU Foundation! We are proud and grateful to partner with you!

We’re incredibly grateful to Falfurrias Capital Partners for an amazing day of service at our Freedom Business Collective building! 🌿

Their team rolled up their sleeves and helped us revive and rebuild our flower beds, bringing new life and beauty to our shared space. It was more than just service—it was a true investment in community.

We also had the opportunity to gather for a meaningful Lunch & Learn with our Executive Director, Hannah Beavers, where we engaged in powerful conversations around affordable housing and the impact it has on the families we serve.

• The Current Business Climate and specific pressures facing Charlotte’s small business community.
• How the City of Charlotte is addressing business resilience and anti-displacement efforts.
• Resilience Strategies to help business owners strengthen their operations against future disruptions.

We had not one but TWO amazing groups of KPMG volunteers invest in Freedom Communities of their Day.
From putting together summer reading bags to doing projects around out Tuck Opportunity Hub for families their efforts have made a world of difference:

•Families in our Moms Moving Forward program AND those in our child development center will get summer reading bags full of books to inspire literacy

• Teachers at Westerly Hills Academy will get goodies at their Teacher Appreciation Event

• Families coming to our Tuck Opportunity Hub and dropping off at Bright Future Child Development Center will be welcomed by flowers and more beautiful facility
