World premiere this Friday Oct 24 of Symphony No. 1 "The Wolf" by composer Sean Smith. It will be performed by the Charlotte Civic Orchestra in the Halton Theater at 7:30pm.
www.seanmichaelsmith.org/the-wolf

Sean Smith says "It was like answering a calling. The decision just came to me and I accepted it… The initial goal was to write a death metal record and rediscover my voice. Death metal is truly unconcerned with being popular, and therefore, I felt like it allowed for the truest and purest musical expression of what I wanted to say. Also, death metal rips. With a future symphony in the back of my mind, my secondary aim was to generate themes for this symphony from these metal riffs, so it was also strategic."
