“A 99-Year Legacy”

Her family moved to Cherry when she was just five years old. She called Cherry home for the remainder of her 99 Years of Life. From the porch of her yellow bungalow home, at the intersection of Main and Cherry Streets, she would greet neighbors with a wave and a smile. She was always championing the preservation of Cherry, senior citizens, and affordable housing. She gave so much of her time and service to the Cherry Community and “The Cherry Community Organization (CCO).” She loved Cherry, and Cherry loved her. Her legacy lives on...

Cherry Remembers and Celebrates the Life & Legacy of Reverend J. A. Cuthbertson, Sr.

He faithfully served as the Pastor of the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in the historic Cherry Community for over 54 years.

Services for Reverend Cuthbertson will be announced. Long & Son Mortuary Service is serving the Cuthbertson Family.

Family Statement:

With peaceful hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived, the family announces that our dearly loved Pastor peacefully transitioned to his heavenly home on the evening of Wednesday, April 1, 2026. He passed comfortably and without pain in the comfort of his home.

Ironically, Pastor would often say, “Don’t fool me now,” and God called him home on April Fool’s Day.

While we will miss his wisdom, humor, and love dearly, we find comfort in knowing that he is safe in God’s arms. Pastor believed what he preached, and now he is living the promise.

One of his favorite songs was “Sending Up My Timber,” and today we rejoice knowing that Pastor is now truly living the dream.

The family kindly asks that instead of saying “sorry for your loss,” you celebrate with us the beautiful life he lived and the victory he now enjoys.

Additional information regarding arrangements will be shared at a later time.
