Before the world knew the name, jazz was already vibrating through the Lovano home.

Joe Lovano grew up in Cleveland under the guidance of his father, saxophonist Tony “Big T” Lovano. He learned by ear, practiced beside his father and absorbed the sound of musicians who came through town—from Dizzy Gillespie and James Moody to Sonny Stitt and Rahsaan Roland Kirk.

That lineage became a voice entirely his own.
