Crisis Chaplaincy The Crisis Chaplaincy is a mission of Light + Hope, providing comprehensive chaplaincy care to first responders, survivors, and the community.

The mission of the Coastal Crisis Chaplaincy is to be a light in the depth of pain and a hope in the day to day for first responders, individuals, and the community. We assist the Coroner in notifying individuals who have lost a family member in an unexpected manner, assist the Mobile Crisis Unit and SWAT teams in hostage negotiations and other local emergency situations; and to provide follow-up visitations in the home or in the hospital for victims of crimes and their families!

The past couple of days have been busy and meaningful for our chaplaincy team as we joined National Night Out events throughout the Charleston area.

We were grateful to spend time with the Charleston County community, the Summerville Police Department, and North Charleston—connecting with families, supporting our law enforcement partners, and showing up as a ministry of presence.

Sometimes the most important thing we can do is simply be there: listening, encouraging, praying, and building relationships. Thank you to the officers, organizers, and community members who welcomed us. We’re honored to serve alongside you.

This week, Chaplain Rich Robinson and Chief Charles Lamoreaux of St. Andrews Fire Department had the honor of meeting with Colonel Aurel Baciu, Chief of the Inspectorate General of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Moldova.

We had a special time learning about the great work of their firefighters, EMS, dispatchers, and emergency management professionals, and how Chief Chaplain Dimitri Apostle and the Chaplain Patrol team serve their mission.
