Crisis Chaplaincy

Crisis Chaplaincy The Crisis Chaplaincy is a mission of Light + Hope, providing comprehensive chaplaincy care to first responders, survivors, and the community.

The mission of the Coastal Crisis Chaplaincy is to be a light in the depth of pain and a hope in the day to day for first responders, individuals, and the community. We assist the Coroner in notifying individuals who have lost a family member in an unexpected manner, assist the Mobile Crisis Unit and SWAT teams in hostage negotiations and other local emergency situations; and to provide follow-up visitations in the home or in the hospital for victims of crimes and their families!

There is something powerful about being at the table. 🤝

Not long ago, we had the incredible privilege of sitting alongside the Charleston County Sheriff’s Department, their command staff, chaplains, and law enforcement officers from Moldova

Moments like these remind us that leadership, service, and unity have the power to cross cultures, languages, and borders. When law enforcement, chaplaincy, and community leaders come together with one mission — to serve people with honor, compassion, and integrity — powerful things happen.

We are grateful for the opportunity to learn, connect, and build relationships that strengthen not only our local communities, but also partnerships around the world.

Thank you to the Charleston County Sheriff’s Department for your leadership, hospitality, and commitment to serving others.

The mission does not stop with just one community walk. 🙌

Our Community Chaplains continue to partner alongside the North Charleston Police Department, walking through neighborhoods, building relationships, and serving our community with compassion and presence.

In this moment, you can see one of our chaplains connecting directly with members of the community — sharing information about the great work being done by the police department, making families feel welcomed, valued, and safe.

Together, we are building trust, bringing hope, and reminding our community that they are not alone. ❤️🤝🚔

The Police Department and Coastal Crisis Chaplaincy are here to serve, support, and stand with our community every step of the way.

These moments right here are what true community connection looks like. ❤️🤝🚔

Today we had an incredible time walking alongside the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Department as we connected with families throughout the community.

Seeing Sheriff Rich Richardson personally stopping to talk with residents, encourage young people, shake hands with families, and spend time with the Hispanic community was something truly special. These weren’t just photo opportunities — these were real conversations, real connections, and real care for the people of our neighborhoods.

Our Coastal Crisis Chaplains, community leaders, and Junior Cadet Chaplains also had the opportunity to walk side by side with law enforcement, building bridges and showing our community that they are not forgotten.

This is bigger than a community walk.

This is about trust.
This is about unity.
This is about showing families that there are people and organizations that genuinely care for them and want to make a difference.

Thank you to every officer, chaplain, volunteer, and family that came out today. Together, we are building stronger and safer communities through compassion, presence, and connection. 🙌🔥 Dorchester County Sheriff's Office Rich Robinson

Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve had the incredible opportunity to train and officially graduate six of our very first Cadets through our new Cadets Program. 🙏🔥 (2 Cadets Not on pic)

We are so thankful to the parents who trusted us and allowed their young people to be part of this amazing initiative. This is only the beginning of many more classes and future leaders to come!

Our Junior Chaplains completed four hours of training, preparing them to serve alongside our Community Chaplains and make a positive impact throughout our community.

Seeing the next generation rise with a heart to serve, lead, and care for others is truly inspiring.

May God continue to bless our chaplains, our Junior Chaplains, and the entire mission of Coastal Crisis Chaplaincy as we continue moving forward and serving our community together. 🙌

This is a friendly reminder to our community stakeholders to please join us for the Dignity Project community forum next Tuesday evening, May 19, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Seacoast Church Summerville. This is an opportunity to meet your Summerville Police officers and their leaders and to have an open, candid conversation about current affairs in law enforcement and community relations. This is an outstanding opportunity to be heard and to interact with our agency, the Dignity Project members, and the Crisis Chaplaincy.
