MEET JUNE BUG — AFTER MONTHS OF WAITING, SHE’S FINALLY OUT OF THE SHELTER! 🌼

Yesterday was a really, really good day. 🥹❤️ After sitting in the shelter since May, our sweet June Bug finally got to walk out those doors and into a foster home — and we could not be more grateful.

June Bug is a 3-year-old hound girl who has been patiently waiting for someone to give her a chance. The incredible shelter staff have been some of her biggest advocates from the very beginning. They knew how special she was, and they continued fighting for her even as their shelter became more and more overcrowded.

Right now, they are quite literally inundated with animals and operating on CODE RED. 💔 Dogs continue to come in faster than they can get out, space is disappearing, and unfortunately, not every dog is going to be given the same chance that June Bug was given.

This girl has one of the sweetest dispositions you could ever ask for. She is incredibly gentle, dainty, quiet and loving. At only around 35 pounds, she’s the perfect little hound-sized package. She absolutely loves people, does wonderfully with other dogs, and has been settling into her foster home like she has been waiting her entire life for this moment.

There is something extra special about watching a shelter dog realize they are finally safe. 🥹 June Bug seems so incredibly grateful just to have a soft place to sleep, people to love her, and the opportunity to finally show everyone what an amazing dog she is.

After months of watching people walk past her kennel, we would LOVE nothing more than to watch June Bug finally be chosen. She is going to make such an incredible addition to a family, and whoever gets to call this sweet, gentle girl theirs is going to be very lucky.

If you aren’t ready to adopt but have ever considered fostering, please consider this your sign. We can only save dogs like June Bug when we have somewhere for them to go. Every foster home that opens means another dog sitting in an overcrowded shelter may get their chance, too.

🐾⚾ What a night at the Charleston RiverDogs game! ⚾🐾
Popsicle and Slushie were the stars of the show and absolutely loved being in the spotlight! ⭐ These two sweet boys are still searching for their forever homes, and we’re hoping someone who met them last night fell in love and decides to take the next step toward adoption. ❤️

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who stopped by to say hello, give some love, and meet these amazing boys! Your support means so much to us and to our rescue pups. 🐶💙

We also had the sweetest surprise—getting to see some of our DTAR alumni! Seeing our former residents happy, loved, and thriving will never get old. 🥹❤️

And finally, thank you to the Charleston RiverDogs for having us out for the last Dog Day Tuesday! We’re so grateful for the opportunity to bring our adoptable pups into the community and help them find their people. ⚾🐾

🍫🎬 NOW CASTING: RAISINET & JUNIOR MINT! 🎬🍫
Move over, Hollywood… these two little stars are ready for their big debut! ⭐️🐾

Meet Raisinet (female) and Junior Mint (male), two adorable siblings from our Movie Theater Litter! 🍿 These sweet puppies came to us through one of our rural shelter partners and are now growing, learning, and soaking up all the love they can get in their foster home. ❤️

At just 5 weeks old, they’re still in the eat, sleep, play, repeat stage of puppyhood—but their personalities are already shining! 🥹

🍫 Junior Mint is the ultimate little snuggle bug. He wants to be wherever you are—and preferably right in your lap! ❤️ He’s sweet, affectionate, and happiest when he’s getting all the cuddles he can possibly convince you to give him.

🍫 Raisinet is the little brains of the bunch! 🧠💕 She’s incredibly smart, a bit more bold and adventurous, and always ready for some fun. She’s playful, curious, and loves checking out whatever exciting thing is happening around her.

And the best part? Both of these little movie stars would do wonderfully in a home with kids and other dogs! 🐶👧❤️ They’re social, playful pups who are already enjoying life surrounded by people and puppy friends.

For now, Raisinet and Junior Mint have a little more growing to do before they’re ready for their forever families. But the countdown is officially ON! ⏰🍿

Popsicle & Slushie are still waiting for their forever families.
These two adorable 4-month-old hound brothers have been to every rescue event, patiently waiting for the day someone walks up and says, “I want him.”

But that day hasn’t come yet.

Popsicle and Slushie came into our rescue with their two sisters, who were both adopted 2½ months ago. Since then, these boys have been growing and thriving in their foster home, where they’ve been nursed back to health and surrounded by love.

Now they’re healthy, fully vaccinated, happy, playful, and ready for their next chapter. They just need someone to give them a chance.

And trust us — there is so much to love.

These boys are great with dogs, cats, and kids. They’re sweet, affectionate, playful, and absolutely adore a good snuggle. They have spent their entire puppyhood waiting for their families to find them, and we would love nothing more than to see them finally get their happily ever after.

It’s hard to watch puppies this wonderful continue to be overlooked.

They shouldn’t have to keep wondering when their turn will come.

Popsicle and Slushie deserve families who will cherish them, love them, spoil them, and make them part of the family forever.

🤠🐾 MEET CARL PAW DEAN 🐾🤠

Carl Paw Dean may only be 7 weeks old, but somebody forgot to tell him he’s supposed to be little. 😂 This big ol’ baby is already tipping the scales at around 10 pounds, and with absolutely no idea what his breed mix is, your guess on how big he’ll get is as good as ours! One thing we do know? There’s a whole lot of puppy to love. 🤎

Carl and his sister, Dolly Barkton, came to us from one of our rural shelter partners after they were found as strays. At only a few weeks old, the shelter was no place for babies this young—especially a shelter that is quite literally bursting at the seams right now.

Their incredible shelter staff advocated hard to get these two out. They are currently inundated with animals, completely out of space, and operating at what feels like a constant CODE RED. When an amazing foster stepped up and gave us the ability to say yes, we knew we had to get Carl and Dolly to safety. 🥹

And Carl Paw Dean has been absolutely THRIVING ever since. 💛

This sweet little ham is learning all the ropes from his foster sibling and soaking up everything that comes with being a puppy in a home. He’s doing amazing with crate training and house training, loves other dogs, and is just an all-around happy-go-lucky little guy. He’s playful, sweet, affectionate, and has that goofy puppy personality that makes it nearly impossible not to fall in love with him.

And did we mention he’s HUGE?! 😂 At 10 pounds and only 7 weeks old, we have a feeling Carl might have some pretty big paws to grow into.

Carl Paw Dean will be ready to head to his forever home next week, and we would LOVE to have a family waiting for him. 🏡🐾

Meet Hopper 🤎🐾

At just 8 months old, Hopper has already been through more than any puppy ever should.

Hopper came to us from one of our rural shelter partners after being found as a stray, most likely after being hit by a car. He had a serious injury to one of his back legs, but thankfully, the incredible shelter staff refused to give up on him. They advocated for Hopper, raised the funds to get him the care he desperately needed, and ultimately his injured leg had to be amputated.

But their advocacy didn’t stop there. They knew a shelter was no place for a puppy trying to heal from such a major surgery, and they continued fighting to get him out and into rescue. When they reached out to us, we knew we wanted to be part of Hopper’s next chapter. Thanks to an incredible foster who stepped up for him, we were able to say yes. ❤️

And since leaving the shelter, Hopper has been absolutely AMAZING.

We truly cannot put into words just how special this boy is. Hopper is one of the gentlest, sweetest, most loving dogs you could ever meet. He has the kind of disposition that makes you fall in love with him almost instantly. Despite everything he has been through, there isn’t an ounce of bitterness in this boy. He simply wants to love and be loved.

Hopper is still learning how to navigate the world on three legs, but don’t let that tripod status fool you—he isn’t letting it stop him. 🥹 He gets around incredibly well and continues to gain more confidence every single day.

His past may have taken a leg from him, but it certainly didn’t take his spirit. Hopper has a heart of gold, so much love to give, and his entire life still ahead of him.

Now he’s ready to leave the shelter, the injury, and the hardest days behind him for good. He deserves a family who will look at him and see exactly what we see—not a dog who is missing something, but an incredible puppy who has absolutely everything that matters. 🤎

Hopper survived the hard part. Now we want to give him the best part: a forever family of his very own. 🏡🐾

What a night! 🐾💛 We had SUCH a great time at our adoption event at Water’s Edge last night, and we are so incredibly grateful for everyone who came out to spend the evening with us and our pups!

These events truly would not be possible without our amazing volunteers and fosters who continue to show up, lend a hand, wrangle puppies, answer questions, take photos, talk to potential adopters, and do whatever else is needed to make the night run smoothly. Rescue takes a village, and we seriously have one of the best. 🥹

One of our favorite parts of the night was getting to see some familiar faces — we even had a few Dusty Tails alumni stop by to say hello! There is something so special about seeing dogs we once cared for come back happy, loved, and absolutely thriving with their forever families. Those are the moments that remind us exactly why we do what we do. ❤️

A HUGE thank you to Water’s Edge for continuing to welcome us and giving our adoptable pups the opportunity to get out, meet new people, soak up some attention, and hopefully meet the families they’ve been waiting for. We are so grateful to have local businesses willing to open their doors to rescue dogs and help us give them the exposure they deserve!

And of course, thank you to every single person who stopped by to meet the dogs, asked about adopting or fostering, shared their stories with us, loved on a puppy, or simply came over to say hello. Every conversation, share, application, and new person who learns about our rescue helps us continue our mission of giving deserving dogs another chance. 🐶

✨ Meet Margie — our sweet little sugar-faced lady! ✨

Don’t let that adorable frosted face fool you — Margie may look like a distinguished older gal, but she’s actually only around 3 years old! 🤍

Margie came to us from one of our rural shelter partners, ready to trade shelter life for something much better. And truly, pictures do not do this girl justice. She’s a petite little thing at only around 45 pounds, and looks like a walking potato with legs & has the sweetest face and an even sweeter personality.

Margie is the definition of an easygoing lovebug. 🥹 She loves her people, loves to cuddle, and is perfectly content just hanging out by your side. She’s incredibly low-key, does well with other dogs, and so far we haven’t heard so much as a peep out of her. She’s just a quiet, gentle girl who wants somewhere soft to land and someone to love.

Margie did come to us heartworm positive, but she has been treated and is officially on her way to putting that chapter behind her. Now, the only thing left on her to-do list is finding the family who will show her just how good life can be. 🏡

At only three years old, Margie has so much life and love ahead of her. She’s survived the shelter, completed her heartworm treatment, and now she’s ready for the part where she gets to be someone’s spoiled little couch potato. ❤️
