Just like her ice cream-inspired name, Mint Chip is as sweet as can be! This adorable 9-week-old puppy came to us from one of our rural shelter partners after being found as a stray alongside her siblings, Cookie Dough and Vanilla Bean.

Believed to be a Catahoula mix, Mint Chip is thriving in her foster home and soaking up all the love she can get. She’s a happy-go-lucky little girl who loves toys, enjoys playtime, and is always ready to make new friends. ⚓️ Meet Hook & Dock! ⚓️

These two adorable members of our Yacht Club litter are officially ready to start looking for their forever homes!

Hook (the beautiful black pup) and Dock (the sweet brown pup) came to us from one of our rural shelter partners when they were just tiny babies. If you’ve been following along, you may remember that this litter had a bit of a rough start. They were some of our tougher puppies medically and required a lot of extra care in those first few weeks.

Thanks to an incredible foster who has poured so much love into them, these pups are now thriving! They are happy, healthy, playful, and discovering just how great life can be.

At just 6 weeks old, they still have a little growing left to do and will be ready to head home in about two weeks. Until then, they’ll continue soaking up all the love and learning that comes with foster life.

Hook and Dock are just two of the adorable puppies from this litter—we’ll be introducing more of their siblings soon, so stay tuned!

Just like her name, Cinnamon is the perfect mix of sweet, warm, and impossible not to love. 🧡

This adorable 2-year-old wire-haired terrier mix came to us from one of our rural shelter partners after being found as a stray. While we may never know how she ended up there, we’re determined to make sure her next chapter is the one she deserves.

At just 25 pounds, Cinnamon is the perfect pint-sized companion. She absolutely adores other dogs and would love a canine friend to play with, but don’t worry—she’s just as happy soaking up all the attention herself! If there’s a lap nearby, you can bet Cinnamon will find her way into it. 🥰

🖤 Meet Douglas 🖤

When Douglas arrived at one of our rural shelter partners, his future looked uncertain.

This sweet 9-year-old black Lab was found as a stray, most likely dumped and left to fend for himself. He was nearly hairless, severely heartworm positive, and completely shut down. Day after day, he sat quietly in his kennel, barely moving, as the shelter filled with younger, healthier dogs that would inevitably catch people’s attention first.

The reality is that dogs like Douglas rarely get a second chance.

Senior dogs are among the most overlooked in shelters, and black dogs often wait the longest for homes. Add medical needs to the mix, and their odds become even smaller.

But then something incredible happened.

One of our amazing longtime fosters heard Douglas’s story and immediately knew she had to help. This is the same foster who has opened her heart and home to so many of Dusty Tails’ most deserving dogs over the years—including our beloved Rita, who has since crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Time and time again, she steps up for the dogs that others pass by, and because of her, Douglas was given the opportunity he desperately needed.

Today, Douglas is safe. ❤️

He still has a long road ahead. He will be undergoing heartworm treatment and receiving additional medical care through our veterinary team, but despite everything he’s been through, he is the sweetest, most grateful boy. You can see the relief in his eyes knowing he no longer has to survive—he can finally start living.

We are so excited to watch Douglas blossom over the coming weeks and months. We know there is a happy, goofy, loving Lab hiding beneath all the uncertainty, and we can’t wait to help him shine.

Stories like Douglas’s are only possible because of fosters. Without them, dogs like him simply wouldn’t make it out. They are the bridge between hopelessness and a second chance, and we are endlessly grateful for every person who opens their home to a dog in need.

🍪 Meet Biscuit! 🍪

And yes… he’s just as sweet as his name suggests.

Biscuit is one of the last puppies from our rural South Carolina crew that we haven’t introduced yet, and we honestly can’t believe we’ve waited this long because this little guy is pretty much puppy perfection.

Estimated to be around 3.5 months old, Biscuit is a yellow Lab mix with the most adorable wiry coat. In fact, he’s the only puppy in his litter rocking this scruffy look, which makes him extra special. While all of his siblings came out looking different, Biscuit definitely won the award for “most likely to make people stop and ask what breed he is.”

His personality is every bit as wonderful as his looks. Biscuit has never met a stranger and genuinely seems to love every living thing he encounters. Dogs? Best friends. Cats? Best friends. Babies? Also best friends. If it has a heartbeat, Biscuit is probably ready to love it.

He’s a calm, easygoing puppy who would much rather hand out hugs than cause trouble. Seriously—this boy loves to put his paws up and give the sweetest hugs you’ve ever received. He’s doing great with potty training, enjoys learning new things, and is settling into foster life like a champ.

His one tiny flaw? Stairs. They’re currently his arch-nemesis. 😂 But he’s working hard on overcoming his fear and making progress every day. We all have something we’re working on, right?

Biscuit is the kind of puppy that reminds us why fosters are so important. Without them, puppies like him—born into a world already overwhelmed by pet overpopulation—wouldn’t get the chance to grow up in a safe home while they wait for their forever family.

🍫 Meet Hot Chocolate 🍫

Looking for a low-riding, extra-thick, professionally trained couch potato? Your search is over.

Hot Chocolate is a 2–3 year old bully/Frenchie mix who weighs about 40 pounds of pure love. She’s short, stout, and built like a little tank with the cutest lowrider legs you’ve ever seen. In true Frenchie fashion, she enjoys splooting around the house, laying like a rotisserie chicken, and perfecting the art of doing absolutely nothing.

Seriously, if competitive napping was an Olympic sport, Hot Chocolate would bring home the gold.

This sweet girl is spayed and finishing up her heartworm treatment. She absolutely adores people and has never met a stranger. Kids? Love them. Adults? Obsessed. Anyone willing to share a couch? Her new best friend.

One of the funniest things about Hot Chocolate is that we’ve never actually heard her make a sound. No barking, no whining, nothing. She just quietly waddles through life spreading love and stealing hearts.

While she came into the shelter with another dog, we’ve learned that she’s currently enjoying her “main character era.” As she’s settled into rescue, she’s made it clear that she’d prefer to be the queen bee of her kingdom for now. We think she may eventually be able to live with another dog with the right match and introductions, but at this time we’re looking for a home where she can soak up all the attention for herself & be the only pup in the home.

If your ideal weekend consists of binge-watching TV, eating snacks, and having a chunky little shadow snuggled beside you, Hot Chocolate is ready to report for duty.

At just 3½ months old, Cheddar should be spending her days doing what puppies do best—wrestling with her siblings, collecting toys, and perfecting the art of getting extra treats. Instead, like so many puppies across the South, her journey began because of a growing crisis: pet overpopulation.
Cheddar and her siblings came to us from a very rural area of South Carolina, where access to affordable spay and neuter services can be difficult to find. Unfortunately, stories like hers are becoming all too common. Shelters and rescues are overwhelmed with unwanted litters, and countless puppies are left without safe places to go.
Without our amazing foster families, we simply couldn’t help dogs like Cheddar. Every foster home that opens its doors creates space for another animal in need. Because someone said “yes” to fostering, Cheddar now has a safe place to grow, learn, and discover that people can be kind and the world can be a wonderful place.
And Cheddar is truly something special. She may be a little shy when meeting new people, but she’s making incredible progress every day. As her confidence grows, her sweet personality shines brighter and brighter. She’s learning from the other dogs in her foster home, finding comfort in their guidance, and becoming more courageous with each new experience.
Like all of her siblings, Cheddar has her own unique charm. Her adorable face, gentle eyes, and sweet nature make her impossible not to love. But what really sets her apart is her kind heart. She’s affectionate, loving, and ready to form a lifelong bond with a family of her very own.
Cheddar enjoys the company of other dogs and would love a home where she can continue building her confidence while being surrounded by love and encouragement. She has so much potential and so much love to give.
For now, Cheddar is safe, cherished, and patiently waiting for the forever family she’s been dreaming of.

🍂 Meet Autumn 🍂
At just over a year old, Autumn has already faced more hardship than any dog should. Rescued from a neglect situation while caring for a litter of puppies, this young mama is finally getting the chance to experience what it means to be safe, loved, and cared for.
Despite her past, Autumn’s heart remains wide open. She is gentle, affectionate, and follows her people wherever they go, quietly hoping for love and reassurance. She’s still learning to trust, but every day her confidence grows.
Autumn is great with other dogs, wonderful with kids, housetrained, crate trained, up to date on vaccines, and now officially spayed.
This 40-pound Bulldog mix is only 1 year and 2 months old and ready for a fresh start with a family who will show her the kindness she’s always deserved. ❤️
