Before, we hardly ever saved. If we had some money, we would keep it or take it out in cash… and it would get spent. It didn’t grow. And when emergencies came, we felt stressed because we had nothing.

With the Savings Collaborative savings club, a nonprofit organization, everything changed. Now my money earns interest, it’s protected, and it motivates me to keep saving, even when I have to use it and start again.

My son is saving for his car. He gets excited when he sees what he earns in interest, and he no longer spends money on impulse, now he has goals.

I’ve also been able to handle emergencies, like when my car broke down, without the stress I used to feel.

Today, I feel like a responsible adult. I’m not just managing the present, I’m thinking about the future.

"Antes casi no ahorrábamos. Si teníamos algo, lo guardábamos o lo sacábamos en efectivo… y se gastaba. No generaba nada. Y cuando llegaban las emergencias, nos estresábamos porque no teníamos nada.

Con el club de ahorros de Savings Collaborative, una organización sin fines de lucro, todo cambió. Ahora mi dinero genera intereses, está protegido y me motiva a seguir ahorrando, incluso cuando tengo que usarlo y volver a empezar.
Mi hijo está ahorrando para su carro. Se emociona cuando ve lo que gana en intereses y ya no gasta por capricho, ahora tiene metas.

Yo también he podido resolver emergencias, como cuando se me dañó el carro, sin ese estrés de antes.
Hoy me siento una adulta responsable. No solo estoy manejando el presente, estoy pensando en el futuro."
