Join Nidal (.nyc) and Rosa (.official) this Monday as we discuss the lessons we’ve learned in the last 20 months from witnessing the steadfast Palestinian resistance. Using footage we put together, as well as sharing insights from our time in Egypt providing aid to people evacuating Gaza, we will discuss the history and nature of the Palestinian resistance, martyrdom, the logic behind Operation Al Aqsa Flood, and the recent escalation between Israel and Iran, amongst other topics. We hope this screening creates a collective space to discuss unfolding events in the region and how we can create a culture that celebrates resistance at home.

Donations will be collected for May Day Space and for a Palestinian family currently residing in Cairo.

We are beyond excited to have Dorely Villareal, Afro-Colombian artisan and activist, visiting our space for the first time.

She will be leading a workshop on bead weaving and sharing the process behind her brand, DORELY HECHO A MANO

Dorelly Villareal is a Colombian artisan, born in Tumaco (1982) and raised in Cali. She is an activist, a psychology student, and the mother of a 15-year-old son and a 24-year-old daughter. She began a healing process approximately 15 years ago, and based on her experience as a Black woman in Colombia, she has found a way to amplify her voice and dignify the culture of the Colombian Pacific through artisanal weaving, which gives life to each of the jewelry pieces she creates. Passing through the world of mathematics and taking steps toward resilience, she has created her brand, Dorely Hecho a Mano (DHM), as a proposal for artisanal, contemporary, or neo-artisanal jewelry that interprets, reinterprets, and represents, through each design, the Colombian Pacific and the African diaspora, from their traditions to innovation in the way they see, make, and reclaim their world. DHM is inspired by diverse women, identity, and a love of their roots.

The workshop will be given in Spanish and interpreting will be provided for English speakers
