Start warming up your vocal cords…World Singing Day is coming to Brooklyn Saturday, October 17th!

It’s a free, global singalong that brings people together through song. For the first time, this annual worldwide event will come to New York City. There’ll be old favorites and recent hits. We’ll have lyrics for you.

The event begins at 12:30pm in front of Borough Hall on the Cadman Plaza side. It’s free and open to all, no sign-up needed. We’ll see you there!

Tomorrow, Sat. 9/19, a herd of buffalo puppets will march through Brooklyn Heights! Return of the Buffalo: Tatanka Owe Akupi is a public art performance featuring dance, poetry, music, tribal ceremonies and more. Join the herd as it begins at Abolitionist Place, makes its way along Fulton before parading down Montague, the Promenade, and concludes at BK Bridge Park. Event begins at 2pm and runs until 4:30pm.

Kick off autumn with a little closet revamp!

Montague Open Streets is hosting a Neighborhood Tag Sale on Sunday, September 27th.

Got some old items to offer? Apply at the link in our bio. Each approved household will receive one marked 10-foot-by-10-foot selling space on Montague Street.

Participation is limited to the first 30 approved households, with priority registration for Montague Street residents.

A $15 contribution to the Montague Street BID is requested to reserve an approved space.

More funding for Brooklyn Heights small businesses inbound! The BHA is excited to announce we’ve received a Strategic Impact Grant from the New York City Department of Small Business Services (SBS) as part of a larger investment of more than $8.4 million in grants citywide. These grants will go towards street-level improvements, economic studies, and more. Across New York, grants will go towards organizations supporting over 20,000 local businesses.

We’re honored to be among the grantees and are looking forward to helping our local business community thrive in the years to come.

Looking to give back to the neighborhood? Help fill the Brooklyn Heights Community Fridge! Join the BHA and your neighbors to make some sandwiches. On Monday, July 13th, from 5 to 6pm, volunteers will prepare, wrap, label and deliver over 100 sandwiches to the Community Fridge. The food prep will take place in the BHA conference room, located at 55 Pierrepont Street, 2nd floor.

In order to cover the cost of supplies, we are asking all registrants to make a $10 donation for this event. Register at the link in our bio.

Consider the community fridge filled. Earlier this week, the BHA brought together a dozen volunteers to make sandwiches for their neighbors.

July 4 Street Closure Info

Happy 4th of July! 🎆 Here's what you need to know this weekend.
To manage crowds, the city has designated certain streets as "frozen zones." Cars parked in the frozen zone will be towed starting at midnight Friday, July 3. The frozen zone will remain open to cars moving through until 1pm Saturday, July 4.
Montague Street will be closed to cars beginning at 1pm, but pedestrians and cyclists will continue to have access to Montague St between Court St and the Promenade as well as Joralemon St from Court St to Columbia Pl. Residents only in frozen zones should carry proof of residency or a community pass.

Brooklyn Bridge Park:
The park will be closed from morning until 4pm on Saturday, July 4th, when it will open to fireworks viewing ticket holders. The areas north of Pier 1 (from Old Fulton Street to Jay Street) will remain closed all evening. There will be no viewing of the fireworks in those areas.

The Promenade:
Ticket holders will be able to access the Promenade at 6:30pm on July 4. The city will email details on access points.

Additionally, 2/3 trains will bypass Clark St station from 7:45p to 11p Saturday, July 4. Use High St (A/C) or Borough Hall (2/3/4) for service.
