Brooklyn Heights Association

Brooklyn Heights Association A History of Activism. A Focus on the Future. The BHA is the organized voice of the Heights. And we organize the community's response when there is a threat.

We plant the trees, protect the views, preserve the brownstones and safeguard the streets. Whether you rent a studio or own a brownstone, we work to protect your stake in the neighborhood. That's why membership in the BHA is so important. The more members we have, the more clout we carry when we work with City and State agencies about issues that concern the neighborhood. Your support helps make o

ur voice – your voice – heard. So...join us now, renew your annual membership if it's that time of year again, and consider making an additional contribution to fund our efforts. Thank you! https://thebha.org/support-us/

Welcome Koren!

A torch has passed in the venerable Brooklyn Heights Association, whose history of service to New York’s first landmark district dates back to 1910. Koren Volk, a transplanted Canadian who moved to the Heights almost 30 years ago, has been named president. She will serve in this position until Mar...

We are thrilled to share with you that the legislation we’ve been pushing for months has been signed into law! HUGE thanks to Governor Kathy Hochul for signing the bill authorizing Weigh In Motion technology to keep overweight trucks off the BQE cantilever. This is a first step towards a cleaner, greener BQE (or maybe no BQE) for all of us! Great work by Assembly Member Jo Anne Simon and Senator Brian Kavanagh to see this through.

UPDATE: on Wednesday we launched a fundraising campaign for the two victims of the 132 Montague Street fire, and the community came together with an outpouring of generosity -- so much so that we ended our campaign early. In just one day 115 donors sent us $10,476 which we will now disburse as quickly as possible. Once again you have shown how much we can accomplish when we come together. Thank you for making Brooklyn Heights such a wonderful community.

On Friday December 10th a fire decimated 132 Montague Street.

The BHA has been in touch with the Red Cross and we have determined that two of the apartments were occupied at the time of the fire. We know that our wonderful community wants to assist those who lost their homes and property, and we are collecting funds that will be distributed to the impacted individuals in the form of a one-time cash grant. We will be collecting donations through December 31st.

EVERY CENT YOU DONATE WILL GO TO THE VICTIMS OF THIS FIRE.

The BHA will cover the credit card processing fees, and we don't take a percentage of your donation, which most crowdsourcing platforms do. All donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Volunteers Needed for Montague Street this week! Help the BHA and the Montague BID collect information that will help us improve Montague Street for residents, visitors and business owners alike.

We need your help on Wednesday Nov 17th and Saturday Nov 20th. We'll be at various locations on Montague St. street asking people to take a brief survey about what brought them to the street and what they'd like to see going forward. This is a great way to get involved and help our community!
