The Fulton Ferry Landing Association was formed in 1988. A volunteer run community organization, our mission is to preserve the historic character and architecture of Fulton Ferry; maintain and improve the quality of life for those who live and work in the area; and promote comprehensive contextual planning in the continued development of this unique area and the adjacent historic communities.

Brooklyn Bridge Park is proceeding with the plan to demolish the education center at 99 Plymouth Street by 2028 and replace it with a community recreation center three times as large, using the space formerly used as a dog run and climbing wall.

A swimming pool occupying half of the building has been suggested, offering free swimming lessons and lifeguard certification. Community engagement (including what is desired for the rest of the building) is estimated to begin around late November, followed next year by a design competition and the hiring of an architect.

The approval process will be long and involve many city entities, so the current estimate is that the existing building would come down by Memorial Day 2028.

Hot off the presses: The reroute of the B25 bus in Fulton Ferry and Dumbo is anticipated to take effect this month in support of NYC DOT's implementation of a bicycle orientated Street Improvement Project (SIP). It follows closely what was recommended in the Dumbo/Vinegar Hill mobility study, with one exception; the new bus layover will be on Front Street between York and Dock Street alongside the school, not on York Street. There will be a new bus stop added at Clumber Corner, Washington and Prospect Streets.

Note: while the full implementation may not occur until later this month, the removal of bus stops at Main/Water and Old Fulton/Elizabeth Place is still effective Saturday, June 13th.

Westbound Travel (Downtown Brooklyn Front Street via Fulton)
From its existing westbound travel path the westbound B25 will turn right from Cadman Plaza West onto Prospect Street, left onto Washinton Street, left onto York Street, left onto Front Street and then terminate on Front Street between York and Dock Street
One bus stop will be removed at Old Fulton Street/Prospect Street and replaced with a stop on Prospect Street/Washington Street

Eastbound Travel (Broadway Junction Alabama via Fulton)
The eastbound path of travel will be revised to turn left from westbound Front Street onto Southbound Old Fulton Street and then proceed to its existing travel path.
Two bus stops will be removed, Water St/Main Street, the nearest next stop is Front St/York St 750ft away. And Old Fulton St/Elizabeth Pl will be removed with the nearest next stop Old Fulton St/Hicks St 400ft away.

Most of the details about the monthlong FIFA World Cup fan zone event at Roebling Plaza were published today on the Brooklyn Bridge Park website. Ticketing information will follow shortly. A one block section of Water Street will be closed to traffic, and westbound traffic on Water Street coming from Dumbo will be diverted via a contraflow to Dock Street, proceeding to Front Street. The B25 bus will be rerouted, but the details have not been provided.
