The Brooklyn Bridge Park Boathouse is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization of unpaid volunteers dedicated to giving all park visitors the chance to experience kayaking or rowing in of the world's most spectacular harbors, with views of the Manhattan skyline, the Statue of Liberty, and the magnificent Brooklyn Bridge - all for free. Our Kids and Family Paddle happens every Sunday (weather permitting) through August, with the help of instructors from The Kayak foundation! Kids as young as 7 can paddle in kayaks by themselves (as long as a parent or guardian is nearby). And it's free!

We had plenty of paddlers on Thursday, despite the air quality (which actually got worse as the evening progressed). Here's hoping conditions are much better this weekend. The forecast includes thunderstorms, so please watch our story in case of cancellations.
