𝘈𝘳𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘸𝘢: 𝘋𝘰 𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘓𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘗𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨?

We are happy to announce the opening of 𝘈𝘳𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘸𝘢: 𝘋𝘰 𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘓𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘗𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨? at . This exhibition presents Arakawa's paintings and works on paper from 1961 to 1990 that use propositions, instructions, and provocations to break down the boundaries between artwork and observer. Included in the exhibition is Arakawa’s monumental painting 𝘕𝘦𝘹𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘢𝘴𝘵, 1966–67, inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘚𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘳 and shown in the United States for the first time.

The exhibition will be on view from September 24 to December 18, 2026 at Castelli Gallery, 24 W 40th Street, New York, NY.

𝘈𝘳𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘸𝘢 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘔𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘎𝘪𝘯𝘴: 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘰𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘤 𝘑𝘶𝘮𝘱

We are very excited to share an exhibition celebrating Arakawa and Madeline Gins at . 𝘈𝘳𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘸𝘢 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘔𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘎𝘪𝘯𝘴: 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘰𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘤 𝘑𝘶𝘮𝘱 highlights their collaborative partnership between the duo and how it led to the concept of “reversible destiny.” Paintings, poetry, film, and a full-scale installation offer visitors several ways to enter and experience reversible destiny firsthand.

The exhibition will be on view from September 26, 2026 to February 7, 2027 at the American Academy of Arts and Letters.

𝘝𝘰𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘚𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘦: 𝘜𝘍𝘖𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘗𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘭 𝘗𝘩𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘢

Opened on October 17, this group exhibition brings together contemporary and historical works that examine how the unknown has shaped our understanding of the universe. From religious iconography to imaginative interpretations of space, the show invites viewers to reflect on how these mysteries inform our existence and how these ideas have evolved over time.

Among the works on view is Arakawa’s 𝘚𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘺 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘔𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘭/𝘝𝘰𝘭𝘶𝘮𝘦𝘴/𝘝𝘦𝘳𝘣𝘪𝘯𝘨/𝘛𝘩𝘦/𝘜𝘯𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥, 1977. Please see it in person at the , where the exhibition is showcased through February 1, 2026.

Join us in celebrating the 30th anniversary of The Site of Reversible Destiny – Yoro Park, an experiential park created by Shusaku Arakawa and Madeline Gins in 1995. The festivities will feature large-scale installations, collaborative performances, and workshops that embody the visionary ideas of Arakawa and Gins.
