eTown, the internationally syndicated radio broadcast, podcast, and multimedia- and events-production nonprofit, launched on Earth Day 1991 in Boulder, Colorado. Since then, eTown has produced musical, social, and environmental programming all focused on its ongoing global mission—to educate, entertain, and inspire a diverse audience through music and conversation in order to create a socially responsible and environmentally sustainable world. Prior to the pandemic, eTown recorded shows in front of a live audience in eTown Hall, a 17,000 square foot former church in downtown Boulder which has been renovated and transformed into a solar-powered performance and recording facility—likely the only zero-carbon facility of its kind in North America. On April 22, 2021, eTown will host its 30th b’Earthday Celebration live stream which includes an induction into Colorado Music Hall of Fame. eTown is aired on over 300 radio stations nationwide, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Podbean, Vimeo, on Facebook and Twitter , on Instagram , on YouTube, as well as at www.etown.org.

MaMuse performs here on October 16, and tickets are almost sold out.

Folk and gospel traditions sit at the heart of their music, with rich harmonies accompanied by upright bass, guitar, mandolin, flute and keys.

Their songs explore joy, grief, resilience, belonging and the experience of being human.

The evening celebrates their new album, This Is the Venue.

Samara Jade opens with soulful folk songs, playful storytelling and influences ranging from Appalachian roots to jazz and blues.

Ásgeir’s “Ferris Wheel,” from his 2026 album Julia, grew out of conversations with his girlfriend about leaving familiar routines behind and imagining a slower life by the sea. It’s a song about taking a chance on the life you want.

Life has its ups and downs, and music helps us through both. We’re grateful to share this performance from Ásgeir’s first visit to eTown.

The full episode featuring Ásgeir is on the air this week through next Tuesday.

New this week on eTown, we welcome two songwriters whose music stretches from Iceland to the American Midwest with Ásgeir and Pieta Brown.

Growing up in a tiny Icelandic town of around 40 people, Ásgeir started writing songs as a child and went on to become one of Iceland’s most successful recording artists. He makes his first eTown appearance with music from both his breakthrough debut, In the Silence, and his new album, Julia.

Iowa singer-songwriter pieta brown returns to eTown with songs from her new album Dreamin’ Of. The daughter of singer-songwriter Greg Brown, Pieta has spent more than two decades following her own creative path, touring with artists including John Prine and Mavis Staples and developing a wide circle of collaborators along the way.

And in our interview, eTown host Nick Forster talks with University of Denver historian and former Colorado State Historian Susan Schulten. They explore the Declaration of Independence, Abraham Lincoln and what American history can teach us 250 years later.

We all inherit stories and traditions along the way. This week on eTown, we share where they can take us.

Listen on the radio and wherever you get your podcasts.
