TGTHR (pronounced together) is a social movement and non-profit working with courageous communities across the country to end youth homelessness. For youth between the ages of 12-24 we provide employment assistance, education programs, supportive housing, short-term housing, long-term housing navigation, support and inclusivity groups, family coaching services, life-skills development, mental and physical wellness support, and an array of individual and group activities.

A stable apartment plus support like a case manager who knows your name and direct paths back to school or into a job. That's what supportive housing looks like for the young people TGTHR serves, and this week we're recognizing why that combination is what truly works when either piece alone doesn't.

Right now, 95% of residents at 1440 Pine and 97% at Nest56 remain stably housed. That's not because we handed someone keys and walked away. It's because housing was paired with the support to keep it: help managing a lease, building job skills, and working through what led to homelessness in the first place.

Most young people don't start at 1440 Pine or Nest56, though. They start at The Source (our drop-in resource center) or by meeting our Outreach Team, to start working toward something more stable.

That full continuum, from first contact to permanent housing, is what 60 years of this work has taught us. Consider signing up for our newsletter where you can follow more of our work.

A young person who visits The Source daytime drop-in center has started thinking about their future career and business dreams. That shift didn't happen by accident. They have spent months honing their craft — cutting, stitching, and reworking garments until they hold up to their own standard. What started as a personal skill is turning into a business plan for costume design, built alongside Sandra, TGTHR's Case Manager at The Source.

Case management isn't just about connecting young people to a job. It's about sitting down with someone who has a skill and a spark, and helping them figure out what a future built on that skill could actually look like.

We love seeing young people explore their dreams and step out of pure survival mode, even briefly, to build something that they are excited about.

We will be hosting a summer open house for the community to see The Source Drop-In Center, meet the team, and hear how our first months of drop-in services have been going since reopening the daytime resource center. Stability seems like a small thing, but in so many ways, it adds up and creates a full life for the young people we work with.

Take Anthony, who is 23 and has lived at Nest56, our supportive housing community in Denver, for almost two years now. Before that, he was staying at shelters downtown, which was, in his words, "pretty difficult."

Now he has his own place, and "It's been a lot more calmer and more stable, day to day."

Anthony's part of Rooted 303, one of the peer groups TGTHR residents can join. Lately they've been working through financial basics together. "It helps me get more engaged with people in my life."

Anthony used to fish a lot and enjoy outdoor activities like hiking and archery. He remembers loving playing with Legos (a habit he's not embarrassed about, he states), but he lost most of those possessions and gear along the way in his homelessness journey. Anthony is excited to get back into it when he can, and his case manager is helping him find donated equipment.

That's what supporting TGTHR does...It shows youth who have had a really hard time that they can find their joys again and engage in life.

Seeking meal donations & sandwiches! Young people at The Source and 1440 Pine need reliable meals, and you can help provide them.

Every week, volunteers and community members sign up to bring food that keeps our drop-in center and housing community running. It's one of the most direct ways to support young people working toward stability, and we so appreciate the help!

Here's how it works:
1. View the signup sheet and pick a date that fits your schedule
2. Prepare (or order) a meal or sandwiches for young people
3. Deliver to The Source or 1440 Pine on your day

A sandwich, a pot of chili, a tray of burritos all go a very long way in helping young people exit homelessness for good!

Happy National Nonprofit Day! We're grateful to McGuckin’s Hardware for selecting TGTHR for their round-up at the register through August 23! All customers at McGuckin's will have the option to round up their purchase to the nearest dollar, and the difference goes straight to young people building stable lives in our community!

This past Saturday, we had a table set up at McGuckin’s where our volunteer was stopped by a young woman who said she utilized our shelter a few years back for some time. She is now working full-time and living close to Boulder. We are so grateful when folks stop us to share personal stories like this. It fuels our work and passion to keep going!

"In recent years, the terms “unhoused,” “houseless,” “housing insecurity,” and “housing instability” have gained popularity in public conversations about homelessness. While most public discussions on homelessness are centered on single adults, many children, youth, and families also experience homelessness, and these terms are increasingly used to refer to them.

Our intent is not to tell people what to say or how to talk about homelessness. Language evolves, terms fall in and out of popularity, and people adopt the words they hear around them. We write here to explain the choices we have made, because language shapes perception, and perception informs action. The words we use influence how people understand an issue and what, if anything, they do about it.
