TGTHR to end youth homelessness

🕺🏼We’re still celebrating the success of last week’s Big 60 Bash! It was such an energetic and impactful night, raising $60,000 for TGTHR programs that help young people working to exit homelessness. And it meant so much standing in a room full of people who love TGTHR and who have been involved through so many of the wins and challenges of the organization throughout the decades.

Sixty years ago, a local judge and a handful of community members decided young people deserved better, and they opened their own homes to make it happen. So much has changed since then. What hasn’t changed is that this work is carried by people who care deeply.

It was an honor to recognize First United Methodist Church with the Judge Horace and June Holmes Community Award, and to celebrate our youth RISE award winners, Romeo, who recently earned his CDL and is working for coca cola, and Leslye, who joined us at the event with her son and shared her progress with us. Watching the community cheer for them was a true highlight of the night.

There was so much joy in the room, we had a blast on the dance floor, seeing all the far-out 60s outfits (thank you, DJ Drake, for leading the best-dressed vote), posing in the photo booth, and the magician who wowed us!

To everyone who has been part of this community, whether for 60 years or one unforgettable night, thank you. We’re 60 years strong, and still showing up! Cheers to another 60!

Last week, our community came together for The Big 60 Bash to celebrate 60 years of TGTHR and the young people we’ve had the privilege of serving along the way.

It was so fun seeing so many folks from our past and present in the same room celebrating in far out 60s fashion! From the awards program to the dance-off & magician, it truly was such a festive night.

A few highlights:
- Presenting the Judge Horace and June Holmes Community Award to First United Methodist Church of Boulder
- Leslye and her son joining us to receive the 2026 RISE Award
- Celebrating Romeo for his 2026 RISE Award
- Everyone’s groovy moves on the floor
- All the fabulous 60s attire, with DJ Drake leading the voting of best-dressed
- The far-out photo booth & entertaining magician

Every young person TGTHR serves depends on funding that has to be renewed, reported on, and re-earned. That work falls to Monika, TGTHR's grants manager, who spends her days turning around grant applications and reporting on our impact so the organization can keep its promises to the young people who count on it.

Monika brings 15 years of experience managing government and foundation grants for nonprofit organizations around the world. Before joining TGTHR, she designed and expanded programs promoting fair wages, safe working conditions, and access to critical services for workers across Asia. She holds a BA in Sociology/Anthropology from St. Olaf College and an MA in Sustainable International Development from the Heller School for Social Policy and Management, and she has served as an official at the U.S. Department of Labor and as a Peace Corps volunteer in Moldova.

After years of work abroad, Monika put down roots in Boulder. She's looking forward to mobilizing resources for social justice a little closer to home, this time on behalf of young people building stability in her own community.

Her enthusiastic attitude, team player mentality, and expertise are much appreciated, and we are so grateful to Monika for all she brings to this team!

The Far-Out Fashion Report: Bell bottoms, platform shoes, suede fringe, mod minis, flowy florals, and psychedelic prints are all fair game. We’ll crown the grooviest look of the night in our best-dressed contest, so don’t be a square!

Twist and Shout: DJ Drake will be spinning records all night and hosting a dance contest, so start practicing your Twist, Mashed Potato, Swim, and Pony. Got a song that takes you back? Send us your 60s requests here and we’ll get it on the turntable.

Out-of-Sight Extras: We’ll be striking poses in the photo booth and be dazzled by a 60s magician. Plan to nosh on tasty bites and sip on refreshing drinks all evening long for a great cause!

Colorado Credit Union hosted their first annual golf tournament to benefit their community, and TGTHR was one of the nonprofit beneficiaries selected!
It was a beautiful day on the greens, and we had so much fun connecting with so many caring folks. Not a bad view form the office!

More than 90 Boulder County residents volunteered over 2,500 hours this year reading grant proposals and deciding where local dollars should go. We're grateful they chose to invest in young people at TGTHR!

We are one of 125 organizations to receive a Community Trust grant this year from Foundation Boulder County. This support helps young people ages 12-24 find safe housing and the support they need for long-term stability, through Street Outreach, the Drop-In Resource Center, and our supportive housing at 1440 Pine.

Ending youth homelessness is community work. Thank you to Community Foundation Boulder County, the volunteer reviewers, and the fellow grantees doing this work alongside us.
