Today in Sacramento, Azul brought together community leaders from Chile🇨🇱 and California🇺🇸 for a roundtable on community-led ocean and coastal governance.

From the Juan Fernández Archipelago and Puerto Raúl Marín Balmaceda to California’s coast, we heard how fishing communities are leading the way in protecting our ocean — with Marine Protected Areas ( ), participatory governance, and people-powered solutions.

Thank you to all our panelists with , , and the Asociación Gremial de Pescadores Sustentables de Puerto Raúl Marín Balmaceda who made this exchange so meaningful.

🎥 This past weekend, Azul cohosted a panel alongside the International Ocean Film Festival Foundation at the 23rd Annual International Ocean Film Festival!

Our Founder & Executive Director, Marcela Gutiérrez-Graudiņš, joined a conversation moderated by Lorraine Yglesias, alongside IOFF Executive Director Ana Blanco and IOFF Ambassador Sebastian Nicholls.

As a proud member of the IOFF Ambassador Council, Marcela brought an ocean justice lens to the conversation — highlighting the power of storytelling, culture, and community in driving real change for our ocean.
