🌾 Thank You, Massachusetts Farmers!

As we wrap up our "Meet the Farmers" week, we're celebrating the growers, fishers, and food producers whose dedication helps make Farm to School possible.

Their work helps students discover fresh, local foods while strengthening communities across the Commonwealth.

Thank you to every farmer and producer partnering with schools and early education programs to help build healthier futures for Massachusetts students.

Next week, we'll head into classrooms, cafeterias, and school gardens to see Farm to School in action!

💚 Supporting Local Farms Strengthens Local Communities

When schools purchase food from Massachusetts farms and producers, the benefits extend far beyond the cafeteria.

Farm to School helps create local market opportunities for farmers, keeps food dollars circulating within our communities, and strengthens Massachusetts' local food economy.

Every local purchase is an investment in healthier students, thriving farms, and a more resilient food system.

Together, we're growing stronger communities, one meal at a time.

🚜 Farmer Spotlight: Meghan Arquin & Molly Powers

This Farm to School Month, we’re highlighting Meghan Arquin and Molly Powers, whose work through Farm Lab and Feast Box brings together local agriculture, climate resilience and community food access.

At Farm Lab in western Massachusetts, Meghan and Molly help test farming practices designed to support more resilient growing systems. Through Feast Box, the food grown through that work also reaches local students and families, with seasonal produce boxes distributed through New Hingham Elementary and Conte Community Elementary.

Their work is a great example of how Farm to School can connect research, local food and community impact in practical ways.

Earlier this year, Meghan and Molly joined the Farm to School Northeast Podcast to talk more about their work and the Feast Box model. If you missed it in February, Farm to School Month is a great time to give it a listen.

👩‍🌾 Meet the Farmers Behind Farm to School!

Every fresh apple, carrot, squash, or leafy green served in a school cafeteria begins with someone who grows it.

Throughout this week, we're celebrating the Massachusetts farmers, fishers, and food producers whose hard work helps connect students with fresh, local food while strengthening our local food system.

Farm to School isn't just about what students eat. It's about creating meaningful partnerships between schools and local agriculture that benefit students, producers, and communities alike.

Join us this week as we introduce some of the people helping make Farm to School possible across the Commonwealth.

Farm to School is happening in every corner of the Commonwealth.

This map highlights schools and programs participating in Harvest of the Month, one of the many ways communities across Massachusetts are connecting students with healthy local food and agricultural education.

From classrooms and cafeterias to school gardens and local farms, Farm to School takes many forms across the state.

Throughout the rest of Farm to School Month, we'll spotlight the educators, school nutrition professionals, farmers, fishers, and community partners making this work possible.

We can't wait to share their stories with you!
