This week, Project HOPE's Family Childcare Network celebrated a very special milestone as our preschool graduates prepared for their next adventure.

45 years ago, Project HOPE began at 45 Magnolia Street.

Pictured here is Sister Margaret Leonard at Project HOPE's 45 Magnolia Street location, where the organization's roots began.

In 1981, the Little Sisters of the Assumption opened their Magnolia Street convent to women and children experiencing homelessness. What began as a response to families in immediate need has grown into a broader network of support helping women and families build greater stability and opportunity.

Over the years, the programs have evolved, but the purpose has remained the same: helping people move beyond an immediate challenge and build a stronger foundation for what comes next.

As we celebrate 45 years, we are grateful for the people who helped build Project HOPE and for the staff, volunteers, partners, supporters and community members carrying that work forward today.

On June 19, Project HOPE hosted a special event to support women as they prepare for the next chapter in their lives.

The day brought together beauty services, career coaching, networking, lunch, professional headshots, and creative activities for children in one welcoming space.

Held on Juneteenth, the event created space to focus on care, confidence, empowerment, economic mobility, and opportunity.

Project HOPE Executive Director Michelle Botus described the gathering as “a day of beauty, self-care, and business for women in the community.”

We are grateful to everyone who helped make this meaningful day possible and to the women and families who joined us.

At Project HOPE, we remain committed to helping women and families access the support, stability, and opportunities they need to move forward.

For David Carter, supporting Project HOPE is more than a charitable decision. It is deeply personal.

After losing his father at a young age, David and his mother faced financial hardship and experienced homelessness. During that difficult time, a nonprofit organization helped provide food, housing, educational support, and other resources that changed the course of their lives.

"That nonprofit was a life raft for my family," Carter recalled.

That experience stayed with him and shaped his commitment to giving back.

This year, David supported Project HOPE as a member of our Boston Marathon team. His story is a powerful reminder of how life-changing support can be when it arrives at the right moment.

Thank you, David, for using your marathon journey to help raise awareness for Project HOPE and the families we serve.

Congratulations to CPLAN on celebrating 10 years of community impact.

Project HOPE was honored to join community leaders, partners, and advocates in recognizing a decade of work dedicated to strengthening neighborhoods and expanding opportunities throughout our communities.

We were especially proud to celebrate alongside Boston City Councilor Julia Mejia, Project HOPE Board Member Keyla Jackson, and community partners from across Boston.

The work of building stronger communities takes collaboration, trust, and long-term commitment. We are grateful for organizations like CPLAN that continue to invest in residents, neighborhoods, and community leadership.

Congratulations on this important milestone and thank you for your continued partnership.

Project HOPE was proud to join community leaders, partners, and supporters at The Good Party hosted by Goodwill.

Events like these remind us that creating stronger communities requires collaboration. Whether it's workforce development, education, housing, or access to opportunity, lasting impact happens when organizations work together to support people on their path forward.

Thank you to Joanne Hilferty, Marie St. Fleur, Jazz Urbane Cafe, and the entire Goodwill team for bringing together so many individuals and organizations committed to making a difference across Greater Boston.

We are grateful to be part of a community that believes in investing in people and creating opportunities for all.
