This week's staff spotlight shines on Shareese Dancy!

Shareese is a Case and Placement Manager in CSR’s Housing and Stabilization Department. Her favorite part of her role is helping families find stability and secure safe, permanent housing. She finds fulfillment in supporting families as they work toward building a more stable future.

Outside of work, Shareese enjoys cooking and spending time near the water. For her, being around water brings a sense of calm and relaxation, allowing her to feel most at peace.

Children’s Services of Roxbury was grateful to receive 52 Superhero Boxes from Liberty Mutual Insurance and Foster Love to distribute to children and youth participating in our Family Services programs!

These thoughtful gifts will bring excitement and encouragement to the young people we serve, reminding them of their own strength and creativity.

Knowing your rights is an important part of the voting process.

In Massachusetts, every eligible, registered voter has the right to cast their ballot without intimidation, harassment or interference. Voters also have the right to request assistance, access accommodations and remain in line to vote if they arrive before polls close.

ROXTalks is back! Join Children’s Services of Roxbury on Tuesday, October 20, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. for the return of ROXTalks, our virtual community conversation series that brings people together to elevate diverse perspectives and explore ideas that move our communities forward.

Our opening conversation, Leading Transformation, will feature Dr. Keith Motley and Dr. Jaykyri Simpson as they discuss the changes reshaping our communities, who is driving them, and how we can ensure communities of color have a voice in shaping the future.

Today, Children’s Services of Roxbury recognizes Indigenous Peoples’ Day, honoring the history and resilience of Indigenous peoples and communities.

This day serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving Indigenous history and ensuring future generations have the opportunity to learn from the cultures and experiences of Native communities.

At CSR, our work is rooted in understanding and respecting the unique histories, identities, and experiences of the families we serve. We believe that embracing these perspectives is essential to building stronger communities and creating a future where every child and family has the opportunity to thrive.

Earlier this week, the Development Team at Children’s Services of Roxbury attended the YW Boston Intergenerational Women Leaders Summit, connecting with women across generations to share experiences, exchange perspectives, and explore new approaches to leadership and community care.

Opportunities like these allow our team to bring fresh ideas, valuable insights, and stronger connections back to CSR. By continuing to learn from others, we strengthen our ability to collaborate, dismantle systemic racism, and advance our mission of bringing peace of mind to children and families across Massachusetts.

Voting starts with knowing your rights and making sure you’re prepared.

With the Massachusetts General Election coming up on November 3, now is the time to check your voter registration status and make note of important upcoming deadlines.

The deadline to register to vote is October 24, with early in-person voting beginning October 17.

Every eligible voter has the right to cast their ballot freely and safely. Over the next few weeks, CSR will be sharing information to help our community understand voting options and voter rights in Massachusetts.

Children's Services of Roxbury is looking for an In-Home Therapist to join our behavioral health team and provide culturally responsive, trauma-informed care to children and families in their homes and communities.

In this role, you'll use established therapeutic approaches to support youth, strengthen caregiver skills, and develop individualized treatment plans based on each family's needs. You'll also collaborate with clinicians, therapeutic support staff, caregivers, and community partners to coordinate care and help youth and families work toward their goals.

Meet Maria Tapia, Case and Placement Manager with CSR’s Housing and Stabilization team!

For Maria, one of the most rewarding parts of her work is seeing families reach an important milestone: securing housing. Knowing she played a role in that journey and seeing the smiles on families’ faces is what makes her work especially meaningful.

Maria also values the relationships she has built with her coworkers and the teamwork, support, and encouragement they bring each day.

Outside of work, Maria loves spending time with her children and watching them play sports. When she’s looking for a little peace of mind, you can find her reading a good book or relaxing with her favorite TV show.
