Forever in our hearts, Joan Brueggeman. You made a difference. You touched our hearts. We will miss your infectious smile, radiance and presence.
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our friend, colleague, mentor, and 2026 ACMA Case Management Hero, Joan Brueggeman, following a battle with cancer.
For nearly two decades, Joan gave her heart to ACMA. She served in countless leadership roles at both the chapter and national levels, mentored emerging leaders, championed the case management profession, and helped shape our organization in ways that will be felt for generations.
But those who knew Joan know that her legacy extends far beyond titles and accomplishments. She was a source of strength, wisdom, kindness, and unwavering support. She had a remarkable ability to make people feel heard, valued, and capable. Whether guiding patients and families through difficult moments, mentoring colleagues, or serving the ACMA community, Joan led with grace, humility, and compassion.
We are deeply grateful for all she gave to ACMA and to the profession she loved. Joan's legacy will live on in the leaders she mentored, the lives she touched, and the example she set for all of us.
Please join us in keeping Joan's husband, Rod, her family, friends, colleagues, and all who loved her in your thoughts during this difficult time.
Thank you, Joan. Your impact will never be forgotten.
