Back in the day, convention nametags were ornate ribbons with hand lettering. NSPA recently received this photo attached to an email inquiring about our organization. The writer’s father attended the Tenth Convention of the National Scholastic Press Association and kept the ribbon. “Scholastic Editor” reported that 1,000 delegates from 20 states traveled to the Palmer House in Chicago. NSPA celebrated its 100th anniversary at the St. Louis convention in 2022, delayed a year by the pandemic.

NSPA thanks Dr. Elisia Cohen, president of our Board of Directors and current past president, for her strong support of NSPA/ACP and student media during her nine years as Director of the U of M Hubbard School of Journalism & Mass Communication. We wish her well as she begins her new role as U of M Vice Provost for Graduate and Professional Education and Dean of the Graduate School.
