GHI's Summer Newsletter: Rising Together: Leadership Rooted in Community

We’re proud to share a milestone: the story of our inaugural East Africa Leadership Development Conference. GHI board members travelled to Uganda to meet with partner project leaders from Uganda, Kenya, and South Sudan for a week of learning, collaboration, and relationship-building.

Sports are a great way to connect with kids, but the impact can go far beyond the game.

Through coaching and mentoring, sports are an opportunity for growth both on and off the field. Our partner, Mentor A Mentor, is doing just that in vulnerable communities in Colombia and Mexico.

Wonderful news! 29 more children now have the opportunity to attend school this term at Joy's Children's Centre in Uganda.

A limited number of classrooms and overcrowded schools mean not every child can enroll. The Hope Institute of Uganda team is dedicated to expanding access to education, giving children a chance to learn and reach their God-given potential.

Big news from Joy Children's Centre! Our student body grew from 107 to 136 learners this term, that's dozens more children who now have a seat in a classroom, a hot meal, and a place to belong. Every one of those numbers is a name, a face, a future. Thank you for making room for more.

📚6,000 copies of Christian literature were distributed to the church in South Asia this month!

After months of translation work in partnership with a missionary serving in South Asia, God's Power Gospel Books has reached an exciting milestone. Christian discipleship materials are now available in the local language, making biblical teaching more accessible to churches and communities. Congratulations to everyone who helped make this possible!

✨✨ These books serve as valuable tools for spiritual growth, discipleship, and teaching of God’s Word throughout the country – in their own language.

To celebrate this achievement, the God's Power Gospel Books team hosted a special retreat, livestreaming simultaneously in Ghana and South Asia. Believers gathered in both locations for worship and prayer, in unity as God's global Church.

Sylvanus Godspower, director of God's Power Gospel Books, leads the ministry with a vision of making Christian literature available to rural communities that have little or no access to discipleship resources.

We had to share this moment of joy! ❤️

The children at Mt. Olivet Care View School in Uganda couldn't contain their excitement as new bed frames arrived for their dormitory!

A generous donor made this possible. It's providing more than just beds. These bed frames are upgrading the school’s dormitory, which allows children who live too far away to walk each day to attend school. Without having this safe place to stay, many wouldn't be able to go to school.

Our partner project, C4DMU (Collaborate 4 Development Mission Uganda), has been boosting standards to create a safe and welcoming learning environment in this rural community. Despite limited resources, no electricity, and classes being held in temporary structures or under trees, the staff and volunteers are deeply committed to using the resources available, giving every child the opportunity to learn and grow.

The team has made a lot of progress, but still has a long way to go. A permanent school building is one of their upcoming goals. As you heard the shouts of joy from the children, each next step, each gift, is making a difference!

We’re excited to welcome Feed My Sheep as a new Global Horizons partner!

Victoria Snyder has a heart for the people and the beautiful land of northern Minnesota. Through her ministry based at Mt. Rose Community Church in Grand Portage, she is investing in the next generation by discipling youth, leading women's Bible studies, hosting community events, and building relationships through outdoor activities.

We’re honored to partner with a new ministry serving right here in Minnesota, speaking into the lives of our youth and sharing the hope of Christ.
