Here we are in 1996 on our only visit with the full band to date to the University of Minnesota's Crookston campus. It was a long bus ride and the football field was muddy, but we had a great time visiting the campus.

We departed our home at Northrop Memorial Auditorium the afternoon of Friday September 27th for a late arrival into Crookston where we met our host families for the overnight stay.

Saturday September 28th saw us up early to rehearse prior to parading through downtown Crookston and performing outside the Cathedral and Central Park before heading to the stadium.

At least one of us lost a shoe in the thick mud on the field, and we had to be careful when forming the Mound of Sound so as not to get the uniforms also full of mud.

Crookston's mascot, Regal the Eagle, was new in 1996 and enjoyed meeting Goldy.

After the game, we changed out of our uniforms, bagged muddy shoes, and boarded our buses for an arrival in the wee hours of Sunday September 29th back at Northrop.

(note that the local newspapers had a wrong date for the Band's inception - we started in 1892)
