One blood donation can change a life, and its impact can reach generations.

For UMN student Trae Griffin, a blood transfusion helped save his father’s life nearly 25 years ago. Today, Trae is giving back as a student ambassador for the We Give Blood drive competition, inspired by the gift that helped make his own story possible.

Donate blood between now and Dec. 4 to help save lives and help the University of Minnesota compete for a $1 million grant from healthcare company Abbott to support students and community health initiatives.

🦫 What can a beaver do for Minnesota? More than you might think.

UMN ecohydrologist Emily Fairfax, PhD, is uncovering how beaver wetlands can slow wildfires, buffer drought and floods, and filter pollutants before they reach Minnesota’s waterways.

When disasters strike, philanthropic support gives Fairfax’s lab the flexibility to act fast, getting into the field before critical evidence disappears and studying how wildlife relies on beaver ponds for survival.
