Weavers Guild of Minnesota

Weaving, spinning, & dyeing since 1940. Learn with us! Founded in 1940, we are the largest weaving and spinning guild in the US, serving nearly 600 members.

At the Weavers Guild of Minnesota (WGM), we believe weaving, spinning, and dyeing are fundamental to the human experience. We offer classes designed for learners of all skill levels, workshops with nationally-recognized instructors, and public talks and exhibitions. We teach both online and in-person. WGM is unique in the region due to its permanent location and vast collection of weaving looms, spinning wheels, fiber processing equipment and array of printed resources. If you want to learn to weave or spin, you've come to the right place. At our space in Minneapolis (MN), WGM has dedicated classrooms and a shop selling specialty equipment, books, and yarns. Member benefits include meetings and lectures, self-study groups, exhibition opportunities and access to equipment and resources. Membership is open to everyone. Come in and be inspired!

Learn the fundamentals of floor loom weaving, starting with the basic weaving vocabulary and graduating to preparing a warp, warping a loom, and reading a draft. The instructor will guide you through a basic project to complete a wool scarf or cotton table runner in plain weave or twill.

After completing the class, you'll have the terminology and knowledge to take advantage of the Guild's free and low-cost resources to deepen your skills.

Learn the fundamentals of weaving on a table loom, starting with basic weaving vocabulary and graduating to preparing a warp, warping a loom, reading a draft, and weaving two projects.

Although everyone will learn to weave on a table loom provided by the Guild, most of this class's content is transferable to a floor loom.
