This last Monday our Friend’s Group in conjunction with Alpena Public Schools and Alpena’s US Fish & Wildlife Service sponsored the Youth Fish Habitat Day at Lafarge’s Paxton Quarry. Along with teachers, parents and 30 - 3rd graders from Hinks School the day was spent learning to cast, fishing, catching & studying macro invertebrates and hiking the quarry trail system. The 600 acre Paxton Quarry is designated as Wildlife at Work by the Wildlife Habitat Council.

Remembering our heroes on this Memorial Day

This last Friday our Friend’s Group in conjunction with Alpena Public Schools and Alpena’s US Fish & Wildlife Service sponsored the Youth Fish Habitat Day at Lafarge’s Paxton Quarry. Along with teachers, parents and 58 3rd and 4th graders the day was spent learning to cast, fishing, catching & studying macro invertebrates and hiking the quarry trail system. The 600 acre Paxton Quarry is designated as Wildlife at Work by the Wildlife Habitat Council.

First Place Ranger Class: Underwater Research Robotics, Robot Factory 4-H Club, Alpena, Michigan. This team is now headed to the International MATE ROV Competition in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada on June 25-27!
