MMTA mourns the death of Ruth Anderson. Ruth was a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music and was very active in the Minnesota Music Teachers Association. She joined MMTA in 1969 and held offices of President, Vice President for Conventions, and Secretary, as well as numerous committees at both local and national levels. She retired from teaching in her 70s.

Ruth gave a very sizeable donation to the MMTA Foundation to fund the awarding of the Piano Exam Capstone award. Maybe other members will honor her memory by giving additional donations to the MMTA Foundation.

Blessed be her memory and what a true gift she was to MMTA and to her students.

A service will be held November 7th in New Ulm.

Celebrating MTNA’s 150 years

“A small thing, but in a dissonant world, every moment of harmony counts--and if we share music, we might just shout in anger a little less and sing in unity more. Or so we can hope.”
― Jon Meacham, Songs of America: Patriotism, Protest, and the Music That Made a Nation

Few organizations survive multiple world wars, economic upheavals, and cultural shifts for 150 years.
