The Bloomington Veterans Memorial is beginning to take shape at Harrison Park.

What was once a vision is becoming a reality—a place to honor the service and sacrifice of veterans from Bloomington and beyond for generations to come.

🇺🇸 Bloomington showed up in force this morning for the annual Memorial Day Parade!! Lyndale Avenue was standing room only with nearly 40 community and school groups and veterans organizations proudly representing the very best of our city.

We were honored to once again share the progress of the Bloomington Veterans Memorial, now under construction at Harrison Park and on track to open this fall in time for Veterans Day.

📆 There is still time to add a veteran’s name to the memorial to ensure inclusion for the Dedication Ceremony Fall 2026. The deadline to be included for the opening is June 30.

Throughout this process, we’ve learned something important: veterans are humble. They serve with pride, professionalism, and determination — but are often the last to seek recognition for themselves.

If there is a special veteran in your life, living or deceased, please consider honoring them through the memorial.

For $350, their name will be permanently included on the memorial and featured in the Digital Veteran Library, where photos and stories of their service can be shared for generations to come.

We hope you’ll join us in honoring those who served.

This was a day for the record books. More than 150 of our neighbors and friends — including veterans, city leaders, corporate partners, Bloomington Remembers Veterans Board, LEO A DALY, Nine Mile Creek supporters, city staff, and many others, celebrated an important milestone — including the groundbreaking of the Bloomington Veterans Memorial. The event was perfect!

Our President, Kate Blessing, shared a few meaningful words as part of the program and together we each tossed a shovel of dirt in support of the future memorial and the larger Nine Mile Creek corridor project. What a blessing it was to reconnect with so many people who have supported us along the way.

Thank you to everyone who attended, supported, and sent well wishes. The excitement is building, and it’s inspiring to see so much momentum behind this progress.

This project is truly a legacy for our veterans. They can hold their heads high knowing that service and sacrifice continue to be honored and remembered.

Every community is shaped by those who serve. Honor your service—or that of someone you love—on the Bloomington Veterans Memorial. We're breaking ground on the project next week!

The Bloomington Veterans Memorial is being built to honor all veterans—living and deceased, from all eras of service—with a connection to Bloomington.

Each veteran’s name will be listed on a commemorative dog tag, approximately 5 by 7 inches in size. These tags will honor veterans at the physical site, and each veteran’s information will also be included in a Digital Veterans Library accessible from anywhere.

Reserve a tag today to ensure it is included when the Bloomington Veterans Memorial opens in Fall 2026.
