Vermont Paws & Boots

Vermont Paws & Boots Our mission: Rebuilding Heroes one Paw Print at a Time. Veterans ⭐️ First Responders ⭐️ Rescue Dogs

Vermont Paws & Boots was established to assist our Military Veterans & First Responders who have sustained various disabilities through their service to our country and communites. Vermont Paws & Boots partners rescue dogs with individuals in need and trains them to work as a team. Creating a bond between these two allows for both to once again thrive. Vermont Paws & Boots was founded by a Militar

y Veteran with over 30 years of Police experience including 11 years as an award winning K-9 handler/instructor. Michelle has just recently retired from the State of Vermont after serving 22 years as a State Trooper. Due to her passion for working dogs and those who serve she saw a need for a program such as this to exist in Vermont. Vermont historically has the most deployed military personnel and fallen veterans per capita. National studies have also shown that Police officers and Firefighters can be equally affected by the trauma they are exposed to on a daily basis. Michelle recognized this situation and used her training and experience as an opportunity to fulfill her passion assisting Veterans, First responders, and canines.

All loaded & wheels up at O dark 30. This should be an amazing event and I hope to see a lot veterans and families come out and learn more about organizations here to support us.

We will be set up as well to share what our program is about and just maybe some of you could be ready to take this journey. Michelle 🐾🇺🇸🐕‍🦺

To all our Woman Veterans & service dog program graduates, thank you for your service 🇺🇸

Women's Veterans Recognition Day is observed each year on June 12, which marks the anniversary of the 1948 Women's Armed Services Integration Act that was signed into law by President Harry S. Truman and granted women the right to serve as permanent, regular members of the U. S. Armed Forces. The day serves as a reminder that women's military contributions were often overlooked in earlier generations, and to recognize their service and sacrifices.

I wanted to share an amazing update I received from one of my graduates, Service Dog General and his handler (Dads on the trip also). They’ve taken a trip of a lifetime to Alaska and have been able to enjoy every moment thanks to the training and dedication they put into this program and each other.

Hearing that all the places I was able to expose them to from stores to airports, agility they conquered such as traversing bridges and going over metal grates and traveling through small spaces, to acclimating them to different sounds, have allowed them to take breathtaking hikes and see white cap mountain tops we all dream of and a lot of wild life. It’s an honor to have you as a member of our family and keep up the great work. I’m so proud of you. 🇺🇸🐕‍🦺💙
