Women Veterans Day (observed annually on June 12th), we honor the trailblazing women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. This day commemorates the signing of the Women's Armed Services Integration Act in 1948, which officially allowed women to serve as permanent members of the military.
Thank you to all Women Veterans🇺🇸
We have proud to have two Dual members in our unit Dolores Krawczyk and Michelle LeBlanc🇺🇸

The Post 13 Legion Riders proudly sponsored the “22 in 22 VSA” ride, traveling through 22 states in 22 days to raise awareness for veteran su***de prevention. Auxiliary member Kim Forrest, serves dinner to our guests from the Vermont Veterans Home with a smile.

During the program, Unit 13 American Legion Auxiliary proudly presented a $250 donation to support Veteran Su***de Awareness efforts. Together, we continue to bring attention to this important cause and support those who have served our nation with courage and sacrifice. 🇺🇸

Yesterday, Unit 13 members had the honor of meeting with Elaina Van Vlech and her family as they proudly waved flags to send off their loved one—a husband, father, son-in-law, and grandfather— and all deployed military to the Middle East in service to our nation.

We wanted Elaina and her family to know that they are not alone. Unit 13 stands ready to support them and other military families during this deployment as they await the safe return of their hero.

We ask our community to keep this service member, his family, and all deployed military personnel/families in their thoughts and prayers. May God watch over them and bring them safely home.🇺🇸

From the entrance of the Vermont Veterans Home, with American flags waving proudly, we gathered to send our best wishes and support to the deployed military as they departed Bennington. It was especially heartwarming to see so many veterans standing in solidarity. Their presence was a powerful reminder of the sacrifices they made in service to our nation.

For many of our veterans, the send-off may have brought back memories of their own deployments and the challenges they faced while serving our country. Their support and understanding of what these service members and families are experiencing made the moment even more meaningful.

May God watch over and protect our military wherever they serve. Our thoughts and prayers are with all deployed service members, our veterans, and their families. God bless America. 🇺🇸

On May 27th, the American Legion Post 13 Family was honored to be invited to the Vermont Veterans Home by the Bennington Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol in recognition of our donations to support.

The evening began with the squadron’s awards presentations. Following the awards, Captain Kate Balassie recognized members of the Post 13 Family for their contributions. Accepting on behalf of their organizations were Chuck Forrest for the Sons of the American Legion, Clark Adams for the American Legion Post 13 Riders, President Darlene Cumm for American Legion Auxiliary Unit 13, and Commander Roger Livingston for American Legion Post 13.

Through the combined efforts of the Post 13 Family, a total of $5,000 was donated to support the Civil Air Patrol and its outstanding cadet programs. We are proud to support these young leaders, who are very active within our Post and throughout our community.

Thank you to Captain Kate Balassie, the cadets, and the entire Bennington Composite Squadron for this special recognition. 🇺🇸✈️
