A scholar, academic leader, psychoanalyst, and artist, Dr. Egan brings a deep commitment to creativity, interdisciplinary learning, and the transformative power of education. She will join the Bennington community in August 2026.

Summer school is on at Bennington! Calling all adult learners—the curious, the artistic, the writerly, the scholars—to join us August 17-21 on campus for 5-day intensives.

Learn how to paint beautiful landscapes, think critically about AI and the ethical questions that surround its use, or hone your writing skills through readings and films. Taught by expert faculty in a supportive, beautiful setting.

Tuition: $700

Artificial intelligence is shaping how we create, think, and make decisions. Yet most people encounter it only through tools, without understanding the internal workings, what assumptions they encode, and what changes when we allow them to stand in for human judgment or creative labor.

AI, Creativity, and Ethics, taught by computer science faculty, Darcy Otto, is a workshop that offers a different approach. Rather than focusing on technical training, it invites participants to explore AI as a human-built system connected to creativity, exploration, interpretation, and decision making.

Spend a week painting outdoors in the hills and fields surrounding Bennington College. This intensive workshop invites artists to slow down, observe carefully, and develop new approaches to landscape painting.

Through a combination of demonstrations, outdoor painting sessions, and group critiques, the workshop emphasizes both technical development and personal expression. Participants will explore techniques for translating light, atmosphere, and place into compelling work.
