The Living Room is open!! 1417 Cornwall Suite 201. Upstairs to the right of Quicksilver photo.

Tonight we are having a soft opening of our rebranded chill lounge space at Peace Centers, The Living Room. Come play games, do karaoke, attend movie nights, arts and crafts, workshops, organizing, skill building, dance parties, listening sessions, healing medicine ceremonies and much more. Your creativity is the limit (as well as square footage, local and federal laws, money, etc)

Tonight will be an open hang night. No agenda. Board and card games will be available. Arts and crafts supplies per request. Sing some Karaoke. Pioneer Xdj RR will be setup if you want to play a set. You can play video games on the big screen. Will have PlayStation 4 and Switch 1 to play on the 150” screen. Bring other games and media if you have some you wanna share.

We will be there from 8pm to midnight. Let us know if you’re coming by texting, commenting or sending a dm. Hope to see some of you out tonight. We are really excited to be sharing this space with our community. We have worked long and hard to get this ready for you all. We want to have events for everyone. They all might not be for you but tell us what you’re wanting to see and we will try to create something that fills that need/want of yours.

Our Program Director, James Bauckman, attended the 2026 WINGS conference in San Diego last month put on by Tootris.com. "It was the most amazing conference I’ve ever attended and it was an honor to be among so many great presenters and leaders doing important work in the field of childcare and education," he said.

Angelique and James built and developed the Childcare Spaces program to support Whatcom County families. As longtime educators and parents, they understood the inherent need and importance of providing our community with immediate access to childcare.

Peace Centers: Building a Child Care Marketplace Around Real-Life Schedules

Peace Centers’ ChildCare Spaces tackles a familiar mismatch – families whose schedules do not fit traditional full-time enrollment models and providers who have openings that would otherwise remain empty. Launched in August 2025, the drop-in Child Care platform allows families to search actual openings by age and needed hours, book individual days, and complete required paperwork online.

In its first year, the platform delivered 1,616 bookings, growing from 51 bookings in its first three months to 678 in its most recent three. The network reached 58 registered programs across 11 ZIP codes and ten communities in Whatcom County, Washington.
Importantly, 77% of families who received care were subsidy eligible, with subsidized and private-pay families using the same platform and booking process.

The model illustrates the potential of technology to connect fragmented supply and demand while reducing administrative burdens for both families and providers.
