Elizabeth had the privilege of taking Alex and his wife for a guided bike tour along a completed section of the Salish Coast Trail earlier this summer to show them some of the sights around Bellingham. His article beautifully highlights all of the amazing things we get to call home here in Bellingham 🙌 ❤️. How lucky we are to live here 🤗. We coordinated with Representative Rick Larsen’s Bellingham Field Office for a bike tour of the Salish Coast Trail (and a piece of Bay to Baker) in Bellingham on Aug 11th. The goal was to gain local awareness and support from Rep. Larsen’s office for future federal funding for regional trail projects. Read the full blog post for more information (link in bio)

Join us for our upcoming fall work parties along the Bay to Baker trail!
In partnership with City of Bellingham Parks, we will be removing invasive species, applying mulch, planting native plants, removing litter, and learning best practices for stewardship. These work parties support the stewardship and volunteer training grant we received from American Trails 🙏🙌

We recently installed a memorial stone for our “Angel Donor” Penny Senger Sanford. Penny found renewal in nature and appreciated our trail building and stewardship work. Penny became our benefactor in 2001 and generously invested in our organization.

It was her contribution and our shared dream to build an Outdoor Classroom for our community in the Hundred Acre Wood. The stone reflects that Penny “loved to spend time in these woods and graciously supported the creation of the Outdoor Classroom.”

Out in the field on the Bay to Baker Trail with Freya - Park Stewardship Supervisor at Bellingham Parks. This was our “recon session” to decide where to host our stewardship trail work parties in the fall. Work party dates to be announced soon!

We are able to do this work with the recent grant we were awarded from American Trails. Special thanks to Bronco Wild Fund, a Ford Motor Company program for supporting our 2026 American Trails - Trails Capacity Grant.

Shout out to Kyle from the Hub Community Bike Shop for joining, as formal members, our new Trails Coalition. We’re honored to have Hub support our mission, vision, and work ahead.
Haven’t heard of the Hub? Well, the Hub is a non-profit bike shop and community resource in Bellingham, WA. They keep bikes out of landfills and get them back on the road.
Take a look at the used bikes they currently have available in the shop. They now offer educational classes on bike-focused topics like roadside maintenance, bike commuting, and more. Must register in advance: thank you!
Calling all volunteers: The Hub Trash Club meets on the first Sunday of each month from 1-4pm at 110 Ohio St. for bike-powered litter cleanup at Whatcom Creek. All ages welcome!
