Morning. It’s morning, everyone! Today’s the day! The sun is shining, the herbicide spraying is complete, and we’re about to get out to....[gasp] mountain bike! GALBRAITH MOUNTAIN IS OPEN!

Thank you to everyone for respecting the closure this week. Now you can get back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Heads up that Cedar Fever is temporarily closed for fine tuning. We’ll be updating a few features to help them flow a bit even more. Give Jace a high five if you see him up there working! We will keep you posted when the trail reopens.

Come take a celebratory lap (or two) down Evolution and Scorpion this Thursday, 8/27 from 6-8pm. Dress in all black and join WMBC and Kona Bikes as we tip our hats to these beloved trails before they enter their next chapter. It’s a celebration of life, a send-off, a wake of sorts for Galbraith’s south side as we know it.

This Fall the upcoming logging activity will affect a few trails on the top of the South Side, and the WMBC is hard at work coordinating to preserve the character of the trails and get them re-opened as soon as possible. If you have questions about the South Side logging activity, staff from the WMBC and DNR will be up at the towers for this event, and we are happy to answer your questions.

Heads up, there has been lots of recent bear activity out on Olsen Creek (Y Road). We want everyone to be aware of the bear activity so you can stay safe and plan accordingly. There was a recent incident on Saturday, 8/15 between a trail runner, her dog and a black bear. Thankfully everyone is okay. WDFW posted the incident report on their website if you’d like to read more.

Please stay safe and alert while out riding in the area, especially if riding with pets and children. WDFW recommends making noise and leashing pets while recreating. If you do have a run-in with a bear, identify yourself as a human by standing up, waving your hands above your head, and talking in a low voice. Back away, avoiding direct eye contact. Don’t run from a bear.

Looking to get your kids out riding mountain bikes this fall? Registration for the WMBC Fall Programs opens this upcoming Monday, 8/17 at 7pm! We offer multiple afterschool clubs and programs that offer a fun, safe and social environment for mountain biking.

Thanks to our many many volunteers, our programs are able to serve more than 500 youth participants in our community annually! Interested in volunteering? We have two Ride Leader training dates upcoming. Visit our volunteer page on our website for more info!

Old school style PNW single track, gloriously janky off camber corners, natural pulls, and wood work that would make a beaver blush?! Bobby Terry, Jeff Jaap, and friends have completed a handbuilt masterpiece on the southside of Galbraith. Poor Decisions is the newest trail on Galby, dropping between Unemployment Line and Irish Death. Go get it!
