Northwest Jobs Alliance

Northwest Jobs Alliance Promote the growth of family-wage jobs in the context of sound environmental practices We refuse to let such a vital opportunity to pass us by.

We strive for balanced community solutions that foster strong economic growth and environmental sustainability. In supporting the Cherry Point industrial area, the Alliance will encourage and participate in rational public dialogue, correct misinformation, seek answers and provide advice, and implement measures to harmonize industry and the environment, discouraging unreasonable either/or situatio

ns. While Whatcom County’s unemployment rate increases, our standard of living decreases—this type of community is not sustainable. The Gateway Pacific Terminal is a $500-$700 million project that will generate new jobs, increase tax revenues, and create hope for Whatcom County’s future.

Even with the distraction of the holidays, the Northwest Jobs Alliance (NWJA) has been tending to important business before the Whatcom County Planning Commission, which is in the process of updating the County’s massive comprehensive land use plan (often called the “Comp Plan”). This sounds like a truly boring matter, but it is filled with implications for the future of the region.

May your all your holiday celebrations be filled with joy!

Thanks to Phillips 66 Ferndale Refinery for its generous $700,000 donation! When combined with state funding facilitated by Sen. Doug Ericksen, this will result in two artificial turf fields, lights and a scoreboard at Northwest Soccer Park, enabling year-round and night-time use.

Whatcom County soccer players will soon see major upgrades to Northwest Soccer Park, changes that could boost the local economy.
