Here’s a peek at how The FAB Studios came to life! 6 years ago my contractor removed the old carpet, built a separating wall (with a layer of extra sound proofing because I’m hammering metal), and installed new flooring. I would move into my new studio a few weeks later! -Sacha

In case you missed it...

After nearly 5 years of transformative leadership, Jessyca Murphy has announced she will be stepping down as Executive Director of Make.Shift Art Space in Bellingham, WA. Jessyca’s leadership and work enabled Make.Shift to deepen and expand its impact on often underserved creative communities in Whatcom & Skagit counties. Make.Shift’s Board is immensely grateful to Jessyca for her dedication, her passion, and her professionalism which continues to guide Make.Shift even during this leadership transition.

The Make.Shift Board of Directors is actively conducting a search for a new Executive Director in the hope of filing the role by early 2026.This is an excellent opportunity for a creative community leader, arts administrator, or development professional who is committed to supporting emerging artists and musicians. More information about the application process and a full job description can be found on Make.Shift’s website (makeshiftartspace.org/jobs). The Board plans to review candidate applications in late November and will begin the interview process shortly after.

Make.Shift empowers, supports, and creates opportunities for local artists and musicians in Whatcom and Skagit Counties. We prioritize marginalized and underrepresented creatives. Make.Shift comprises an all-ages art gallery and music venue, affordable art studios and band practice spaces, weekly workshops, and a low-power community radio station, KZAX 94.9 FM.

At Make.Shift, we want to live in a world where art is essential, music is life, and weirdos are always welcome!
