I didn't stay at Bellingham's Lighthouse Mission when it was freezing and I was living in my car. Because of the cross on the wall. Faith moves mountains. And helps the homeless. But the City of Bellingham has not met the needs of its homeless population, leaving it to the Lighthouse Mission Ministries. The mission's services follow in a long tradition that bundles serving the needy with selling Jesus....

We smell smoke where I live, near the Bellingham Costco. We can't tell if it's a fireplace, a campfire, a car fire, a wildfire, or our apartments are on fire. When we lived on the south side, there were air quality sensors every block or so. But now that we're northsiders, we live in a sensor desert. The nearest sensor is far away from us....

Three Dollar Tree stores in Bellingham so far. Dear Bellingham Council, please follow the example of other cities that limit or block new dollar stores. We have food desert problems here in Bellingham. Between Walmart and the Safeway-Albertsons-Haggen mergers and acquisitions, our food choice, quality, health, prices and access are failing. Dollar stores make this worse. With dollar stores continuing to multiply at breakneck pace, communities across the country are grappling with the fallout, and a growing number of citizen groups and local officials are rising to turn them away....
